Perhaps there is a local used book store/library store where we can all gather to fill up Jackie's empty boxes and any free spaces in our vehicles? What, you say? There's a post office where we can ship media mail as well? This sounds like a great trip. :-) :-) :-)

Lindsey Gandhi (lindseygandhi) | 1228 comments Finished my 1st book - West with Giraffes West with Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge - 3 stars

Sometimes there are books that you just have to get to the end to make it worth it. This is one of those books. For 80% of it, I felt like saying, "Ok, get on with the story. Just get to San Diego already!" Then that ending happens and I find myself a blubbering mess crying over giraffes. Overall this was just an okay story for me. If you can hold out till the end, it's worth it.

And of course I loved my buddy read with Alissa!! 😁

Lindsey Gandhi (lindseygandhi) | 1228 comments Finished my 2nd book - Rock Paper Scissors Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney . 5 stars!!!

Holy crazy twists and turns Batman! What did I just read? When I read a thriller there are a few things I look for - an engrossing story that's hard to put down, twists and turns like you're on a madman rollercoaster and never really knowing what is going to happen next or "who did it". This book checks all f those boxes and more. I loved being constantly surprised. This was my first book by Alice Feeney and can't wait to get my hands on more of hers. Definitely recommend this one!

Lindsey Gandhi (lindseygandhi) | 1228 comments Finished my 3rd book - The Stationery Shop The Stationery Shop by Marjan Kamali . 4 stars!

Wow, what an incredibly beautiful and heartbreaking book all in one. I feel like Celine Dion is singing "My heart will go on..." in the background. Though my heart will take awhile to recover from this story. It's slow at times, and a little jumbled from an organizational standpoint but stick with it. It's worth it in the end.

Lindsey Gandhi (lindseygandhi) | 1228 comments Michelle and Alissa - you are very welcome! 🀣 I have had this book for awhile and I'm really kicking myself for taking so long to read it. I got to the end of the book last night while i was sitting through my son's jiu-jitsu class and just started crying. I immediately closed the book and ran out to my truck. There's NO crying in jiu-jitsu, not even for the moms. And talked it off as my allergies have been really bothering me. So i completely finished it last night after my son went to bed. My husband at first thought something was wrong and then he saw my book by the box of tissues. He's used to me getting dramatic over books at this point. 🀣

Lindsey Gandhi (lindseygandhi) | 1228 comments Finished my 4th book - Beyond Justice Beyond Justice (Hidden Justice, #1) by Cara C. Putman . 4 stars

I was first introduced to Cara Putman when I had the opportunity to read the third book in this series, Delayed Justice. I fell in love with it and her writing. So I went back and ordered the first two books in the series. Beyond Justice is the first book. While I love that this book combines two of my favorite genres - legal thriller/mystery and Christian, this book wasn't quite as strong as the third book. Having said that, I still enjoyed this story and its message. I would definitely recommend this series and this author. She's a good one! I'm intrigued to read the second book and have ordered some of her other books. 😊

One minute you've finished book 1, and the next, you're on 4. Kudos!! LOL

At least with knowing that book 3 is better than 1; that shows that the series is probably improving, so that is a good thing.

I think Rock Paper Scissors is on my tbr somewhere. If not, I want to check that out.

I really enjoy Cara Putman's writing. She puts all my favorite genres into one book. And the stories are good. I read this series a little backwards, started with #3 then went back and read #1 & #2. I do hope she continues this series. It gets better as it goes.

Lindsey Gandhi (lindseygandhi) | 1228 comments Finished my 6th book - Send for Me Send for Me by Lauren Fox . 3 stars

My library put up an incredible display on the Holocaust. I got the opportunity to take my son through the display and talk about what the Holocaust was, how and why it happened but also why it's so important to learn about this event in history and never forget all of those families lost, murdered, destroyed. After seeing that display and having conversations with my son (who hasn't learned about this yet in his history class), I was inspired to read a book that touched on this subject.

This story itself is beautiful and heartbreaking. The author presents the story in a slightly different style than most WWII books about the Holocaust. The structure of this book gets rather confusing at times. It's not simply a dual timeline - the story jumps all over the place. Honestly there are a few characters introduced that I don't feel offers anything to thr story other than muddy the waters. And then all of a sudden the story ends without any clear resolutions for some of the key characters.

I feel maybe part of me had higher expectations because I was so moved by the display in my library. I also wish the author's note at the end had been placed in the beginning. It would have set a very different tone for the book, possibly made parts less confusing.

Overall it is a beautiful story. There's just a few parts that didn't match my expectations going into this book.

Lindsey Gandhi (lindseygandhi) | 1228 comments Finished my 7th book - Chasing Fireflies Chasing Fireflies by Charles Martin . 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Oh Charles Martin, you've done it again! Your writing totally breaks my heart and then heals it by the end. I am forever in awe of how you put such powerful life lessons and God's voice in your stories. This is an incredible story about fathers and sons - their love, sacrifice and relationships. And on top of this is a really great mystery.

"Love does that. It names the nameless and gives voice to the voiceless."

I truly cannot do justice with a review on any of Charles Martin's books. He is my favorite author, ever! Pick up one of his books and read them. You won't be disappointed.

I'm in between a 3 and 4 star rating. I have to say Avery's obsession with Sadie was really creepy. But who killed Sadie, or was she even killed at all? This mystery took lots of twists and turns to make it entertaining and keep me guessing. I never guessed thst ending! I love it when an author totally surprises me. This was my first Megan Miranda book and I look forward to reading more.
