The coolest? Ray Harryhausen. Super nice guy. He's probably tied with Chuck Jones as mellowest superhuman I've met.Larry Niven was pretty cool, too.
Semi-SF but ultra-chill and wickedly funny was Gahan Wilson. We were at Mid-ohio Con decades ago and there he was, just sitting by himself with no one talking to him so my friend George asked him for a Phantom of the Opera drawing and he just started telling jokes as he whipped up a hilarious cartoon off the top of his head.
Oh man, Harryhausen ... now you got my juices flowing. Last year I did some author networking with Kevin Sorbo and I got flipped off by Bruce Campbell but I'll take Harryhausen any day.
I got to do a reading with Jack Dann last year. I'm sure they paired him with us unknowns so we'd at least have an audience :)He was lovely.

Yeah, I actually got to do a podcast with Brin and Allen Steele - they probably did it for the same reason. Very nice guys - the really successful creative types are always very sweet.

Spoke with him afterwards, gave him the hard copies of my books that I promised and he signed my copy of The Postman.

Love doing what I do - it's helped me meet so many awesome people. Who is the coolest Scifi person you ever met?
