John Newman converted to Catholicism. Charles Reding converted to Catholicism. Is Newman speaking about his own conversion? What differences or similarities do you see between both conversions?

Fonch | 2444 comments I think that the age. Newman wrote this book to reply several attacks against the Catholic Religion. His main character is a younger figure of Newman. The family story is very close, overall his relationship with his sisters, only kept Mary, because she died before of his conversion. The case of Jemima, and Harriet Mozley (the first avoided that her sons had relationship with his uncle). In the case of Willis. He reminded very much to Hurrel Froude as he might have become if he had lived. Brownside is inspired in the liberal theologist Renn Hampton (Newman and the Pusey followers treat to Block his designation as Professor). The majority of the characters are allegories Bateman (the High Church), Freeborn (the evangelism the first Newman conversion), Campbell is based in a Cambridge colaborator of Pusey, Zorobabel might be the zionism, Shefield is the person who chose for the World than the religion. White is the Iscariot. Smith said my spanish edition that might be Newman, or Manning. The characters know to Keble, Pusey, and Newman the Oxford Movement is starting for this reason they spoke about parties.
