What better way to close the year with a thriller Christmas read!
A book which needs no introduction and blurb.

Please join in enjoying the festive holiday mood.

Mansi | 386 comments I'm so excited for this as she is my favorite author and Christmas is approaching. I have never read it so I ordered online and it has just arrived .I love suspense thriller.

The Wanderer This book is very different from Christie's usual style. That was something I remember that I had enjoyed.

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) I read this book but will take it up again in due time. The plot is not perfect, but it deserves to be the 12th BOTM of any year.

Savita Singh | 1885 comments I will be starting this book today. Looking forward to good mystery thriller! 😀

Have you started the book yet , Mansi ? I am just beginning . The Wanderer and Luffy have rated it it well .

Savita Singh | 1885 comments I have finished part 3 . Interesting mystery 🤔 . I wonder if the ☆☆Beware Spoilers (view spoiler) ☆☆

message 8: by Ria (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ria Roy | 3 comments Thanks for the suggestion I will definitely give it a read and share my thoughts!

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) I have been going through a phase where I cannot read much. I fear this is permanent. I haven't been able to read a good book for some time. All of my vetting process has brought nothing but disappointing reads to my notice.

I really am sorry for not taking part in HPC, as I had pledged. I couldn't reread it again. I want something good and new to read. I must now nurse my reading slump and hope for the best.

Thanks for the wishes! I will do other things. I have a few ideas if things don't rectify with the passage of time.

Yes , that's the spirit , Luffy 👍 !

Austin George | 4069 comments Thank you Savita :-)

Mansi | 386 comments Yes I'm on about Page 100 ,murder has been committed and interrogations are ON. Please guys ,NO SPOILERS PLEASE. It will destroy all the mood and suspense.
I would like to add that murder is very late ,it should have been in earlier pages it became slightly boring but now the real fun has started.

Mansi | 386 comments Oh! If only the murderer had known the old will !

Savita Singh | 1885 comments Oh , so you have finished the book , Mansi ? How did you like the end ? Satisfactory ?
I am on page 120 .

Austin George | 4069 comments I received Hercule Poirot's Christmas as a gift from my Secret Santa. I have started the book. I will be slow with my reading as I am very busy off late with personal work.

Savita Singh | 1885 comments Take your time to read this book , Austin . It's an interesting and
enjoyable read ( I've finished it and will be giving it 4 or 5 stars. ) .

Savita Singh | 1885 comments Like Luffy says , the plot is not perfect but the book deserves to be the 12th BOTM of any year .

Mansi | 386 comments No Savita haven't yet finished ,at 90%

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) Thanks for the mention, Savita! Mansi, hope you become a fixture on Indian Readers!

Savita Singh | 1885 comments Mansi wrote: "No Savita haven't yet finished ,at 90%"

Oh ,I see . I hope you like the end . I did . I found it quite unexpected .

Savita Singh | 1885 comments Luffy wrote: "Thanks for the mention, Savita! Mansi, hope you become a fixture on Indian Readers!"

Welcome , Luffy ! 😊

Suchitra (bookpuzhu) | 1030 comments Hi all. Have read this book a few times. Do not have it with me to read it again. But, remember a lot of it. I enjoyed reading it.
As with all her books, I am impressed by her insight into life.
The way the lady of the house handles the girl's crush on an unsuitable boy is interesting!

Savita Singh | 1885 comments Hi , Suchitra ! Yes , I agree with you ..... as with all her books , her insight into life was very impressive . That's what makes her books all the more enjoyable .
Sorry you couldn't reread with us .

Bookworm (have loads of catching up to do) | 1001 comments Looks like you guys are having a blast. I got caught up with work, so didn't start yet.
If I do start, will definitely post my updates here.

I see that some of you guys have completed it. What about the others?
How's it going?

The Wanderer Does anyone here feel the murder in this one was very elaborate?

Mansi | 386 comments Have finished it a few days back , couldn't post . SPOILERS- Dont u guys think the way resembled The murder of Roger Ackroyd. I found many similarities and was as awestruck on finding the murderer as I was in that. Perhaps this book was an inspiration for that

message 37: by Luffy Sempai (last edited Dec 23, 2022 03:16AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) I did not link this book to Roger Ackroyd. But I have noticed Christie duplicating some plots of hers wholesale. E.g. the strychnine poisoning plots. You have a great eye for spotting patterns, Mansi.

Savita Singh | 1885 comments The Wanderer wrote: "Does anyone here feel the murder in this one was very elaborate?"

Yes , the whole setup was rather elaborate but quite interesting . What I was little doubtful about ☆☆Beware Spoilers (view spoiler) ☆☆ But , anyway , it was all interesting and quite unexpected .

Savita Singh | 1885 comments Mansi wrote: "Have finished it a few days back , couldn't post . SPOILERS- Dont u guys think the way resembled The murder of Roger Ackroyd. I found many similarities and was as awestruck on finding the murderer ..."

I haven't read The murder of Roger Aykroyd . Is it also by Agatha Christie ?

The Wanderer Savita wrote: "The Wanderer wrote: "Does anyone here feel the murder in this one was very elaborate?"

If I remember correctly, there was a foreword from Christie that she got a lot of feedback that her murders were becoming too elaborate. So in this one she wanted to have a clear murder. But even then some of the elements were still pretty elaborate

The Wanderer Mansi wrote: "Have finished it a few days back , couldn't post . SPOILERS- Dont u guys think the way resembled The murder of Roger Ackroyd. I found many similarities and was as awestruck on finding the murderer ..."

Ackroyd was written much earlier.

Savita Singh | 1885 comments The Wanderer wrote: "Savita wrote: "The Wanderer wrote: "Does anyone here feel the murder in this one was very elaborate?"

Oh , I see ! Well , even in this one the setup is elaborate all right ! But it was a good read .

The Wanderer Savita wrote: "The Wanderer wrote: "Savita wrote: "The Wanderer wrote: "Does anyone here feel the murder in this one was very elaborate?"

Yeah I love all of her work. She always manages to add a new twist.

Mansi | 386 comments Yes ,I second u Savita ,how could whole thing be planned on a single rope ,which no one found and it was that strong to make the crockery and heavy things crash .
and yes the Ackroyd book is a masterpiece of Christie's and an international bestseller.

Mansi | 386 comments I personally found similarities in both the books -SPOILERS - Murderer was on the justice side ,not in the family ,one we couldn't think ,in Ackroyd book the Dr. murdered him and went quietly closing the door and reappeared officially for the murder to be discovered then. In this book too exactly same happened

Mansi | 386 comments One thing I'm confused in this book that how did the doctor didn't confirm the time of death through postmortem. ,it could have been a major game changer . He did not die when the noises happened

Savita Singh | 1885 comments Mansi wrote: "Yes ,I second u Savita ,how could whole thing be planned on a single rope ,which no one found and it was that strong to make the crockery and heavy things crash .

Oh , I see ! I would love to read the Aykroyd book . Thanks for the info !

Savita Singh | 1885 comments Mansi wrote: "One thing I'm confused in this book that how did the doctor didn't confirm the time of death through postmortem. ,it could have been a major game changer . He did not die when the noises happened"

Actually , if I remember right , ☆☆ Beware Spoilers (view spoiler) ☆☆

The Wanderer @Mansi & Savita, I see what you mean by similarities. Yes that way there is a strong resemblance to the style of mystery between this and Ackroyd

Savita Singh | 1885 comments The Wanderer wrote: "@Mansi & Savita, I see what you mean by similarities. Yes that way there is a strong resemblance to the style of mystery between this and Ackroyd"

That's Mansi , Wanderer . I , myself , haven't read the Ackroyd mystery as yet .
