Oleander | 270 comments This was my #5 choice of the nominations so I'll be reading it in January. This one looks like it has the potential to be a good read or a disaster (carnal lessons -eek!). Hope it falls on the good side.

Lauren | 1395 comments Me too! I'm excited! I've never read this book despite it being on my TBR list.

Maureen | 189 comments I just read this book and found it be quite amusing. I enjoyed how the MC’s relationship evolved from a mutual exchange of favors to an obsession with each other both physically and emotionally. Joanna Shupe delivers a goodread.

Lauren | 1395 comments I just started reading it today.

Merry (jewelhound) | 856 comments I just got this from the library so probably will start tomorrow.

Oleander | 270 comments It's next on my list after I finish current read.

Merry (jewelhound) | 856 comments Looking for others thoughts on this book. I have only read the first few pages.

Leandra Azer (azerjaban) | 2 comments Read this almost a year ago but I still remember plenty [there are books I read last week I barely remember 🙈] , shy heroine who uses her connections with a famous chef to get 'lessons' from a known Rake. There was plenty of late night conversations and opportunities to get to know each other.
Kit for his part was very sweet and I remember enjoying his determination to make something of himself, I don't remember if he was broke or just the spare, but he was desperate to make his club idea succeed. He hated being known only for his 'charm'. The setting in an an American hotel was new to me as well.

Merry (jewelhound) | 856 comments Thanks Leandra, I will continue to read on. I am not far into it and its not hitting the spot for me.

Jan (jan130) | 2682 comments I'm not sure about this one either. I liked Joanna Shupe's Magnate, an earlier one of her books, but didn't enjoy one of her later books, The Rogue of Fifth Avenue, as much. I'm dithering a bit on this read and might wait to see more comments before I decide. Thanks Leandra and Maureen for the positive comments. But like Oleander, I'm on the fence about 'carnal lessons'. Not a fav trope for me.

Leandra Azer (azerjaban) | 2 comments This is definitely one of those fluffy romances without much drama. I can't see myself rereading unless I'm looking for investment free fluff.

Merry (jewelhound) | 856 comments Well...sometimes a book just doesn't grab me, and this is one of those times. So, I look forward to next month and am calling it sampled not for me on this one.

message 14: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 1395 comments @Merry, I'm sorry to hear that but I completely understand. Some books aren't for everybody.

I'm glad I finally read this book! It's been on my TBR for a long time, and I really liked it. I'm looking forward to Nellie's story!

Merry (jewelhound) | 856 comments Lauren Glad, you liked it. I think a lot of my problem was this is not a trope I like......that and traveling tropes. Hate traveling tropes lol!

message 16: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 1395 comments I was hesitant about this trope too. I'm also not big on traveling tropes either.

Mamacita aka MawMaw (mamawantsbedtimestory) | 417 comments This month, I hope to get to this one but I still have to to read the first book.

message 18: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 1395 comments This could be read as a standalone. According to most reviewers, the first book wasn't that good.

message 19: by Tanya (new)

Tanya Burke | 29 comments I finished this one a few days ago. I started it right after finishing Up All Night with a Good Duke (The Byronic Book Club, #1). Just a few pages in and I felt like there was another story that I missed. Turns out, The Lady Gets Lucky is book 2 in a series. (It didn't detract from this story but I'm kind of compulsive about reading a series in order.) So I put this one aside to read The Heiress Hunt (The Fifth Avenue Rebels Book 1). It was a decent read but it did set my mood right for this one. I really liked these characters and enjoyed watching their association develop into a friendship and then blossom into love. Enjoyed it enough to add to my favorites shelf.

Lauren | 1395 comments @Tanya, I'm glad you enjoyed the book. I'm looking forward to The Duke Gets Even. That man has been jilted twice he deserves his own romantic story, especially with the most interesting character.

I started this book earlier this month and gave up at 20%. I think it was the theme that I did not like....the girl asking for lessons on how to attract men. It seems like a very lazy plot device and provides no intrigue in my opinion and is very unrealistic. From memory it was me who nominated this book :(....I did have high hopes!! I am glad others enjoyed it.

@MerryJewelhoud - travelling tropes are my fave!!

Yes, very unrealistic, and I think it's what's putting me off reading this book.
