I'm new here, but I could do December if no one else has signed up. Do both books/series need to be the same theme you chose ? Or is one a theme and one just a series you like?

That's great Bonnie! I don't see any one listed for December.

One of the series you pick fits a theme. The other is member's choice.

Amy - The sign-up for 2024 will be posted soon. We'll keep you in mind for March.

Only one of your series has to fit a theme.

I've read and liked a book in each, but not the first book (yet.) I tend to buy books on sale and get them on prime.

These look good. Both series are new-to-me. .. and both are on KU.

Meg (makeli2) | 1534 comments Love this theme! I have tons of English village cozies.

message 62: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie Thanks for putting the books/series up Mods (?) Is there anything else I need to do besides choosing?

I bet I do too, but I've had so many cozies so long on Kindle I don't remember what they are- I do another group color choice by the month and often find out by using them for that challenge . I have a lot of paperback Agatha Raisins too.

Meg (makeli2) | 1534 comments It got to the point where I sat down one evening and started listing all the British cozies/mainstream mysteries I have on Kindle (or as many as I could find). You and I are alike in having some on there for quite awhile! I decided after making the list that my January tbr is going to be composed of mostly British reads. I really want to start or continue a few series.

I'll have something for our monthly read in December, tho; I have a few British holiday titles on December's tbr. Or, if we're focusing on the specific series, I have Bells, Tails & Murder.

I like to read cozies (and the semi cozy British ones) between other kinds of books, historical or contemporary. I did use a lot of seasonal ones in a 2023 reading challenge, but find I need to switch up or I burn up reading specific genre books.

L J | 714 comments I like British mysteries. Most of the English ones I've read recently are historical. Contemporary ones tend to be British but not English.

I have Bells, Tails & Murder (Dickens & Christie #1) by Kathy Manos Penn Bells, Tails & Murder. Looking forward to reading it.

Just checked and I also have Risky Bisqueness (Snips and Snails Cafe #1) by Elizabeth Rain Risky Bisqueness. Looking forward to it too.

I created a shelf here on GR for my Kindle books - and my Audible+ books too, so I don't forget to listen to them before they're removed from the catalog :)

I picked up a few witchy cozies in October ( I am kind of playing around with Nanowrimo with an old short story from long ago.) I probably should have saved that series for another time, but I am determined to start either reading some stuff I have on Kindle (marking it read) or deleting it. I donate old books, but have a hard time letting go kindles even if I have had them unread for years.

I like some of the Scottish (I'm half Scottish) and Welsh (have a Welsh friend) mystery series but they are more semi-cozy historical or police procedural stuff. Short and not graphic murders/victims no one really cares that much about, but not cozy cozy.

I haven't, but did put one on hold- and know the library had another on audible (can't fit it in the month, though. I don't do much audible now I'm retired. I used to drive around a bit at work and listen to books.

Good idea on the audible plus shelf, Barb! I'll have to start one when I find a block of time. As far as a Kindle books shelf, the majority of my books are on the Kindle these days, so that would take even more time. I do have a Word document listing a big chunk of them, cross-referenced to other Word lists. Really what would make life easier is to quit buying more. As if...!

message 73: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie I just checked on my Amazon page and I have 764 books on my Kindle. A lot have been read, a few are from the library or prime borrows, but a good chunk I don't even remember getting or why. I am getting better about marking ones I read "read" at least.

So maybe a shelf for 'everything else'? Then you'll know that what's left is a Kindle book without taking the amount of time that would require :)

message 75: by Meg (new)

Meg (makeli2) | 1534 comments Definitely something to think about!

message 76: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie I managed to delete over 100 books yesterday from my amazon site/kindle content lists. Some I had read but didn't like enough to ever read again, but a lot of them I had picked up free or cheap years ago and either never read or started and didn't like (and didn't feel like reading now either.) But then today I picked up some more cheap reads from book bub.

message 77: by Meg (new)

Meg (makeli2) | 1534 comments That's the way it goes. 😂 I deleted quite a lot this year, but added more than I got rid of. But I'm not worrying about it, really. The books sit in the cloud and will be there when I'm ready. Hoarding-- oops, not hoarding, collecting!-- at it's finest.
