SOLVED: Teenage boy time travels to search for missing mom who got trapped in the past

Sometime in the 2010s I read a YA Science Fiction novel about a teenage boy and his dad who discover that the mom has been trapped in the past. Here’s all of the details I can remember:
- Both the Dad and the Mom are scientists who are working on time travel for the government
- Something goes wrong and the mom gets trapped in the past
- Dad & Son realize this when they bring back an old newspaper from the past with the Mom in the background (I believe the newspaper was headlining about women’s rights)
- A baseball hat was involved. I’m pretty sure it was the Son’s and he could use it to travel back in time??
- I think the government was evil and wanted to use the Son and his hat to time travel
- They lived in an old brewery?
