So, here we are again. I must say, I have slightly high hopes for not only completion of this challenge, but enjoyment of this challenge. I always finish, but not always happily.

I think by having the 12 being books that I have already read and/or are a part of a series that I already love; then I should do fine...... hence, the word "should".... 🤦🏾

I hardly ever change my list once I create it; but this is definitely subject to change.

The Twelve:

The Rook (The Checquy Files, #1) by Daniel O'Malley - The Rook 5 Stars (REREAD)
Stiletto (The Checquy Files, #2) by Daniel O'Malley - Stiletto 4.5 Stars

Robopocalypse (Robopocalypse, #1) by Daniel H. Wilson - Robopocalypse 3.5 Stars (REREAD)
Robogenesis (Robopocalypse, #2) by Daniel H. Wilson - Robogenesis 3 Stars

Dogs of War (Joe Ledger, #9) by Jonathan Maberry - Dogs of War 4.5 Stars
Dark of Night - Flesh and Fire (Journalstone's Doubledown) by Jonathan Maberry - Dark of Night - Flesh and Fire 4 Stars

The Bone Yard (Body Farm, #6) by Jefferson Bass - The Bone Yard 4 Stars
The Inquisitor's Key (Body Farm #7) by Jefferson Bass - The Inquisitor's Key 3 Stars
Cut to the Bone (Body Farm, #8) by Jefferson Bass - (Body Farm #8) -

The Hanging Garden (Inspector Rebus, #9) by Ian Rankin - The Hanging Garden 3.5 Stars
Dead Souls by Ian Rankin - Dead Souls 4 Stars

Angels Flight (Harry Bosch, #6; Harry Bosch Universe, #8) by Michael Connelly - (Harry Bosch #6)

Alternate Reality:

The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James The Sun Down Motel 4.5 Stars
The Terror by Dan Simmons The Terror
Lovecraft Country (Lovecraft Country, #1) by Matt Ruff Lovecraft Country 5 Stars
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

**afterthoughts - Don't judge me! 😩😩

I'm reading The Rook for 2023 as well. Because of you! =)

Lea (leaspot) | 3635 comments Oh, this list is completely dangerous!!!! I haven't read a single book on it and it is all series I have been looking at/trying to squeeze in, (except for one series that I didn't know existed and now I'm down a rabbit hole!!) What a great set of books! I hope you really enjoy this list!

I hope you really enjoy it. The blurb doesn't do it justice. It really is a different world. I have high hopes for this author; but this is an underrated story. I have to read book 2. *sigh*

I hope it includes Joe Ledger. I am not as behind in that series as I thought; so I am almost caught up. I do need to start the Rogue Team international, because that is where the author takes Joe and ultimately into Rot & Ruin. Phew!

The Rabbit Hole has no end.....

Ioana | 2122 comments Some good series here, and I've only read a few of them. Dangerous list.
Loved The Rook, did not care for Stiletto.
You can't go wrong with Ledger or Bosch.
Wayfarers #2 is good, you should finish that series.
And please, don't add any more series to my poor TBR 🤣

Ugh, I was hoping Stiletto was just as good. Well; I may change it out if the reviews are bad enough.

I am not trying to add anymore series either; but I swear I have a bunch that I have forgotten about, especially the cozy mysteries.

I think it was me. I read The Rook, and tried Stiletto as an audiobook, and I did not like the narrator. Also, a long time has passed between the 2 books, and trying to remember who and why was no fun. Let me know what you think.

That would definitely be a problem for me. There was and has been so much time in between books. I read Rook when it first came out; and the next book didn't come out for 2 more years; so I forgot a lot about it.

I will reread the first and then read the 2nd book right after. I'll keep my fingers crossed

I wasn't able to squeeze any of your series into my 2023 individual list. It's a good thing I'm already sketching out 2024. :-) :-) :-)

I think you're already familiar with the mystery/thrillers above; so, I highly recommend the Wayfarer series and the Expanse. I've only read the 1st of each book; but everyone says they are consistent in quality, pacing and plot. I am excited about both.

Same here, Vikki. I think its been almost 2 years. Luckily, Bosch doesn't change much. He is a anti-hero that just refuses to change. He needs therapy, but makes for great reading! LOL

Lindsey!! I would never! LOL

No secret lists here. Just me being behind in every series I have. 🤦🏾

Each series I am reading, I highly recommend. Even if I am only on the 2nd book. These are really comfort reads; because you can go back after being away for so long, and fall right back into that world. I miss them all.

I hardly ever change my list once posted, but I have been unsure about it since I posted it. Having all those series was overwhelming. Ugh

I had the terror on a list last year and just became overwhelmed with the size of it. I am going to tackle it a chapter at a time. I think I can do that.
