Thanks for the post, Alexa.
I like how they're giving new insight into the background characters. However, I think it's more important that they incorporate scenes that are actually in the book, than add new ones.

Yah I saw the video of the shoot...its a tough job as Xavier is talking to "no one" as they shoot in the rain. Poor guy....may I add, he seems really really good. I agree Mel that the movie should stick close to the book, but I think he is sticking close to it (which is GREAT). I saw the pics of Rosalie's backgound story shoot....looks great! Nikki looks sooo different!
I think its a great idea to start the movie with Riley being turned....I mean he is meant to be a new born but with some experience...so that sets it up well! Oooohhhh I cant wait!
BTW did you hear that New Moon is 2hr and 10min long? I am sooooo happy about that, this means that they will have enough time to put all the bits "WE" want in it....unlike Twilight!! Woo Hoo

OK the movie is 2.01hours long...2.10 with the credits...ha ha he he...damn...I am not happy loosing the 9min!! Arrrgghh!;)
They didn't cut anything. We just figured out that the extra ten minutes was really for the credits.

It's still pretty decent. The average movie is 105 minutes long and we get 130 minutes.
I know...I always hated that Twilight was so short and didnt have all the scenes.....so any thing longer than that suits me fine! :)
Well, actually, Twilight had the same number of minutes... So we're not getting more.

Victoria's new fighting partner, Riley, could be seen in "The Twilight Saga's Eclipse" as early as the movie's opening scene. Suggesting the possibility was Lainey Gossip which brought forth a bunch of set photos and a behind-the-scene video taken from the Wednesday night, October 7, shooting with the actor hired to portray the character, Xavier Samuel.
In the report, the site claimed that the Australian actor "is working on what's currently intended (at press time) to be the OPENING SCENE in Eclipse." The particular scene filmed, in the meantime, sees Riley being terrorized down an alley in Seattle by a sinister shadow which turns out to be Victoria. All of the photos from the set can be obtained at Lainey Gossip.
Back in late August, Samuel was also captured in a series of set photos. At the time, he was shooting a seduction scene with co-star Bryce Dallas Howard who plays Victoria. The pictures, which were taken August 20, displayed Howard and Samuel engaged in lip lock as Victoria seduces Riley under a bridge to make sure that he carries out her orders to make new vampires.
"The Twilight Saga's Eclipse" is an adaptation of the third novel from Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" series. Knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf, Bella Swan once again finds herself surrounded by danger while she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob in this movie.
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart return as Edward and Bella. Bryce Dallas Howard takes over Victoria from Rachelle Lefevre, Catalina Sandino Moreno stars as Maria, and Jack Huston is picked up to portray Rosalie's former fiance, Royce King II. This follow-up to "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" is scheduled for a U.S. release on June 30, 2010.
Well I hope they don't give too much away! That'd ruin the movie.
