AurorainBookland | 741 comments maybe a Celebration readathon where you can read a book centering around any Celebration; holiday, birthday, anniversary for a relationship or an event or something.

Hmm maybe🤔 That's actually a good idea for the August reading challenge though if I have space for it

I have an idea. What if we make a readathon that celebrates for months? For example, this April, Earth Day is celebrated in April so we make readathon books about the environment, nature, or wildlife. And so on in other months. It's just a suggestion:) And sorry for the late suggestion anyway.

AurorainBookland | 741 comments that's a great suggestion and Kadi always needs ideas for the future

Sorry Patricia I don’t want to misunderstand you. Do you mean we should have readathons tied to something of importance in that month? If so, we’ve done it before! We had a Black History Month readathon and I feel like we’ve had a women’s related event but I can’t remember what exactly it was. One of our very first readathon actually was Pride themed for pride month!

I like the idea of linking readathons to important events in each month but I struggle to find events that aren’t super obscure or very political or very religious. I like to keep the themes as neutral and open so we can be as inclusive as possible and it makes for greatly varied book lists.

The environment theme for a readathon is a great idea that we’ve never done before and would’ve linked nicely to Earth Day but you said it too late😭 we could’ve done it! Oh well, I’ll save it for next year now I guess. It could be a good one!

Maybe we could do it next month like in May. Yep, I mean we should have readathons tied to something of importance in that month but I think you have already done it before. Maybe I also help find national month days too or maybe think of another idea:)

I'll message you here If I have another suggestion:)

@Patricia Can’t do May, I’m afraid. We have the myth themed readathon in May. I think all months in this year are taken now except for June and I was thinking we could do some kind of challenge during that month. It’s nice to switch it up with a different activity every now and then!

Oh, right. Maybe we could do Book Bingo Challenge or maybe a book spotting challenge in June. I'll think of some ideas...

Capn | 291 comments So October is nearly upon us, and I've unpacked my books post-move. :) I'm sorting them into piles (read immediately, read in October, read in the winter/Christmas, etc.), and realised I have a bumper crop of MG and YA spooky reads* (falls a bit shy of full 'horror', mostly), and I was wondering if you've got a plan in place already for this coming month, Kadi? :)

*(Edit: most of mine are, as usual, vintage reads and predate easy MG categorization)

I like the sound of Book Bingo, fwiw! :D Also available to help flesh that idea out, if you want assistance!

Yes, I know that too. Was hoping to hear from Kadi what the general idea was (same as last year, something different, etc.). I'll wait to hear from her, thanks.
