Help Find | 7 comments read 2-7 years ago from local library, since moved so can no longer look for it there. I only remember a couple of scenes so here goes:

One scene I think was that a friend of the protagonist was getting laughed at for saying that he was going to be the first person to land on the sun, going at night. She tried to defend him and knew the lifetime of the sun and suggested that landing on the sun would technically not be impossible if you went after then.

I also seem to remember the school librarian in the story printed out her browsing history to discuss it with her, as the sites she was going to were apparently too advanced for her grade level. I feel like I remember some kind of figurative imagery about the librarian was shining a light around and since the girl could no longer hide, she would bring the librarian into her corner with her.

I don't remember why she had to hide how smart she was, but I feel like there was mention that she purposefully got average scores, and hid it from all of the teachers. I don't recall if she hid it from her parents, though.

I think it was set in elementary school, but it is possible that it was middle school.

Glad you found your book, Help. I marked your request as "Solved" by clicking the small "edit" link after the header/ topic title. This only works on the full Desktop Website. (If you're using a Mobile web browser like Chrome or Safari, scroll to the bottom and tap "Desktop version.")

Thanks! I'm on desktop chrome, but apparently, my dark mode extension turned the edit button the same black as the background, so that's why I couldn't find it; I thought that the edit button at the bottom of the comment was the only place to edit there.
