Chau | 3 comments I only remember that at some point the salmon has to do the salmon run, so it was most likely an Atlantic salmon or king salmon. He also talks to this older salmon who's survived many years, and when he looks inside its mouth, there's a hook from when the old salmon got caught on a fishing line. I don't remember the plot, those were the only two moments I remember. I think the author was male and had a Caucasian name, and started with a letter in the middle-ish part of the alphabet (I borrowed it at the library and I remember the section was near the letter M).

Chau | 3 comments M - hi, thanks for reply but I don’t recall there being any humans as real characters in the book. So it’s probably not the right one :’)

Google Books description of Salar the Salmon by Henry Williamson - Sue's suggestion:

"Salar is a five-year-old salmon returning to the stream of his birth. He faces great dangers - cruising lampreys, poachers with their cruel nets and spears, sharp-eyed otters, cascading falls - all between Salar and his goal in the spawning sands."
