Main character is a young girl sent to an island where she attends a school (or what may be an asylum) because she has special abilities (I think). It seemed like she was the only character in the book other than the teacher (or doctor) she worked with. She was not allowed to go to the opposite wing of the building. There was a scene where she listened to the ground outside and there was something to do with a boat docked on the island. *** SPOILER *** In the end, she went to the opposite wing and found a hidden room/section where there was a boy her age who also worked with the teacher/doctor. I read this book as a young middle schooler in 2012-2013. I did a book report on this book and distinctly remember feeling like the name was very basic, maybe something like "The Hidden Room". Googling that title didn't result in me finding the correct book, though.
