SOLVED. Science Fiction/ Fantasy. Two Societies; one lives in darkness and one lives in constant light. Light hurts the people in darkness. A baby is found in the dark society but seems to be able to see. Read as a PrePub in 2010. [s]

The part that I read centers on a man in the darkness society. I remember that the light would injure the people who were in the darkness society and that they were blind. I think that the light society lived in constant light because they were injured by darkness. The main character notices the baby can probably see but is not hurt by the darkness. I didn't get very far in the story. I'm very aware that as I read it as a PrePub, it may not have ever been actually published
