Ron | 2708 comments Okay found this one and I'm sticking with it.

The Mexican American Experience in Texas: Citizenship, Segregation, and the Struggle for Equality

While it's mainly in English, there are quite a lot of Spanish words in it so I figured that was okay.

Arunimaa | 46 comments Okay so I am going to cheat on this one a little. I recently read this book, The Egypt Game, which I am not able to fit with any of the other prompts. This is the only one that seems to work because in the book, the children, make their own language of sorts. They use hieroglyphs, where some letters are thr original Egyptian ones and some are made up. And with these they make an entire system of language to communicate in secret. So I think this should work.

Cadi | 22 comments I just finished Outlander which I’m using for this prompt. It’s been on my TBR for years!

Teri (teria) | 1554 comments I just finished Warrior Girl Unearthed by Angeline Boulley. I used The Firekeeper’s Daughter for this prompt last time, so seemed appropriate to use the sort-of sequel (many of the same characters about 11 years later). Anishinaabemowin is the second language (Ojibwe tribe).

Anshita (_book_freak) | 267 comments I am reading The House on Mango Street for this prompt. I found this on the list, which also works since it is Hispanic Heritage Month.

Gillian | 4 comments I read The Murmur of Bees for the "Hispanic Heritage Month" Kindle challenge.

It's translated from Spanish, but there are still a lot of Spanish borrow words, à lot of which I had to look up. So I counted it.

It's historical fiction and magical realism. It was beautiful.

The Pampered Librarian | 165 comments I finished A Long, Long Time Ago and Essentially True last night. It's written by an American of Polish descent. There is a multitude of Polish words woven into the text. I have a couple of complaints about the novel, but overall, it's well-written in my opinion. I quite liked it but can't see how anyone who isn't Polish or has never lived in Poland could understand much of it.
