The Last House on Needless Street

This works and is a fun book. Sadly, I read it last year. I'm going to read Cujo because it's been on my TBR for a long time.

I read Other Birds by Sarah Addison Allen for this prompt.

The birds in this book are maybe only loosely pets. They're generally wild birds and (view spoiler)[are carrying the souls of deceased loved ones (hide spoiler)] but most characters are unaware of this last part. One of the birds is invisible too so there's that.

Red Darkling by L. A. Guettler has a delightful glitchy robot cat named Bonk.

The adventures of a cat in search of her owner during the Second World War. It is a interesting and varied description of the British Home Front, (although it's a Young Adult book, it pulls no punches), and also manages to tell the story without making the cat at all anthromorphic.
