Would you consider continuations after original authors' death here, like Poirot by Sophie Hannah or any that continue Holmes adventures here? I tentatively have 'The idea of you' here, but I'm not very excited about it plus it will be harder to get.

I know people have different interpretations of this prompt, but I absolutely would. I think when you're taking someone else's characters and continuing or changing their story, that's what fan fiction is!

I know some people are interpreting it as it was originally intended not to be published, but then reworked, so in that case it might depend on what you could find about the authors' intentions. However, I think those examples are fully within the spirit of the prompt.

There's a link elsewhere in this thread where the author says it started life as a fanfic.

My guess is it was a Reylo (Star Wars) AU, just because the male lead is an Adam Driver lookalike with two other Star Wars names (Ben Andor).

Google says probably, a Draco/Hermione one. There's no direct link I can find a la Hazelwood but considering she was a big fic writer for that pairing and a bunch of people have been like "oh the main two in The Atlas Six feel like Dramione" you can probably use it.

In case anyone is still looking just finished Notorious Sorcerer and in the end of book author interview the author does state the book started out as fanfiction (no indication of what of though).

John Scalzi's Redshirts is Star Trek fanfic (the red shirt characters had a habit of being the death of the week, LOL).

Starter Villain might as well be James Bond fanfic.
