I read Legends & Lattes for this prompt and adored it! I'm a fantasy lover, but this wholesome "post-adventuring days" fantasy thrilled me while ultimately leaving me all cozy!
I had a stack of books out in December, and I honestly thought I'd read them faster than I did. Alloy of Law and Shadows of Self just took me longer to read than I'd anticipated, and I'd fully expected to read Bands of Mourning in December. Instead I didn't even start it until January. So, Bands of Mourning was my "book I meant to read in 2022."
I just finished The Hacienda and am gonna slot it here since I originally borrowed it in December but didn't get to it until January. And now to return it and pay the late fee...

My library did away with late fees! It's so nice!!!

I was so ticked I didn’t get to When You Trap A Tiger by Tae Keller just for the 2022 prompt about a book with a tiger in/on it. At least I’ll get to use it for credit this year!!
"Where the Crawdads Sing" by Delia Owens has been sitting in my to-read shelf for too long. Here we go!
Still have to think about this prompt because I completed most of the books I wanted to read and the ones I didn't, I can't remember.
Okay, since I'm reading Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You for the banned book, I started thinking about this and realized Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America would be a good one. This one has been on my tbr since last year, like the YA version, but never got to it.
Calling all the Tarot and book lovers!I have read Tarot. The Library of Esoterica, for this prompt. Highly recommended!

I read Burntown by Jennifer McMahon. I thought that I would get to it last year after reading Winter People, but alas, my TBR pile has grown exponentially since then! 😊
I might move Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You to this prompt. I got it last year (during Banned Books of all time) but I have another book I want to read for the Banned prompt.

Carly wrote: I read the YA version - actually did the audiobook - and definitely enjoyed it! Nice. I'm reading the YA version for the banned books topic and I'll probably fit the adult version either for this prompt or the prompt 'longest book on your tbr'. (my average reading is 300-350 pgs, so for me anything more than that is considered long.)
I went with The Narrative, the third book in Katherine Vick's "Plot Bandits" series. It's like a fantasy version of John Scalzi's Redshirts: the minor characters get fed up with being used for background mayhem, and decide to become the heroes of their own story.
Oh perfect, I found just the right one.I've started reading Unwell Women: Misdiagnosis and Myth in a Man-Made World .
I kept seeing this in the bookstore a lot and told myself I would get to it at some point, but I never did. I just did not have the time. Now that I got it in paperback it seems like a perfect fit.
I moved the Unwell Women book and placed The Myth of Normal: Trauma, Illness, and Healing in a Toxic Culture here instead.
I read The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O'Farrell. I hung on in case I was given this for Christmas- I was not...A historical novel based on a real person (Lucrezia de Medici) but also on a poem I love, The Last Duchess by Robert Browning. I liked the imagery and thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
There are sooo many I wanted to get to last year. Finally got to How to Keep House While Drowning: A Gentle Approach to Cleaning and Organizing. This is a little Zen gem, even though it isn't written from a Zen background or perspective : focus on the present, finding joy and peace in the now, and bigger connection.Much more about how to cope when Life is drowning you in one way or another. This helped me a lot, since I have been out on medical leave for a couple months, and was in so much pain I barely could function for the prior 9 months.
I'm all about functioning at whatever level I can - this was a little blessing! 5 star read
