Only one left it is Passage!

Stephen got The Scar correct! One of the 7-nominee books!

Ed is correct is assuming Neal Stephenson is one of the 3 lengthy book authors. The Diamond Age: Or, a Young Lady's Illustrated Primer is also correct! However, Cryptonomicon is not.

The 3rd lengthy book author is yet unidentified.

Stephen Burridge | 1059 comments I’m wondering if Kim Stanley Robinson is the lengthy book author. I don’t think any of his books is excessively long, but some of them are up there in number of pages. And he has won his share of awards.

Hope those of you who celebrate American Thanksgiving enjoyed the holiday & family time.

Looks like we're petering out on this game, and we're getting into the very difficult obscurities and one-offs, so let me recap.

The three lengthy book authors have all been identified:
Connie Willis with Passage (5) & Doomsday Book (6)
Neal Stephenson with The Diamond Age (6) & Anathem (5) (new answer given)
Kim Stanley Robinson with new answers Blue Mars (5) & 2312 (7)

The author in this selection with the most nominations is China Miéville with 4 books that have 30 nominations between them: Perdido Street Station, The City & the City, The Scar & Embassytown, the one missed.

That still leaves us with two 7-nomination books & five 6-nomination books. Only one author among these has even been mentioned & had a book identified. There are 21 5-nomination books remaining, but most of those I think will be difficult to identify. So maybe one more pass and I'll disclose them.

After those additions, here's where we are:

9 nominations - 1 of 1 identified
Ancillary Justice

8 noms - 5 of 5 identified
Mexican Gothic
American Gods
Perdido Street Station
The City & the City
The Drowning Girl

7 noms - 6 of 8 identified
Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell
Neuromancer
Piranesi
The Scar
Embassytown
2312

6 noms - 7 of 12 identified
A Deepness in the Sky
Among Others
Doomsday Book
The Diamond Age: Or, a Young Lady's Illustrated Primer
The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms
Uprooted
The Sword of the Lictor

5 noms - the hardest group - 9 of 30 identified
Anathem
Beggars in Spain
Blue Mars
Passage
The Claw of the Conciliator
The Fifth Season
The Handmaid's Tale
The Shadow of the Torturer
The Yiddish Policemen's Union

Stephen Burridge | 1059 comments I’ll guess The Calculating Stars. The other one that comes to mind is Seveneves but I think that would appear on the list above with the other books by Stephenson.

I agree the game is petering out. It was fun but I'm pretty much out of ideas. Here's my last post for guessing.

I'll guess 5 based on the hint that there are 5 books unidentified from 2019 and later (and that there is one remaining Jemisin book):

N.K. Jemisin - The City We Became
P. Djeli Clark - A Master of Djinn
Martha Wells - Network Effect
Silvia Moreno-Garcia - Gods of Jade and Shadow
Arkady Martine - A Memory Called Empire

And a few random guesses:

Paolo Bacigalupi - The Windup Girl
John Scalzi - Redshirts
Nnedi Okorafor - Who Fears Death

The Calculating Stars is correct! 5 nominations.

The City We Became (6), A Master of Djinn (5) & The Windup Girl (5) are all correct!

A Memory Called Empire & Gods of Jade and Shadow are both 4's and didn't make the list of 56. However, the former's sequel, A Desolation Called Peace is on the 5 list.

Redshirts was nominated for the Hugo & Locus SF and won both. Who Fears Death had 4 noms and won 1, the WFA.

So I'm taking 5 more correct guesses out of the last couple posts.

Thanks, very interesting, I'd never guessed a few even if I've read them!

I feel like the group should've got Rendezvous with Rama, The Ten Thousand Doors of January and The Three-Body Problem, but beyond that, we'd have been guessing for months.

Agree, but I am surprised at some. Tea with the Black Dragon *** for example
