Ann (annrumsey) | 16982 comments I have my browser set to open all of the web windows I have been using the next time I log on. It takes a little longer to load when opening up, but saves me from rooting around for places I visit daily or frequently.
One of those places was our former home, the AOL M/T message board, once greatly loved and frequented daily by many of us here and other good book friends. The last several days it has not opened up and gives the error "web service not found (or some such)"
Several people who didn't fully embrace Goodreads and a few who do were still posting infrequently.

I wonder if AOL finally pulled the plug for good.
I had just commented to DonnaJo in an email how I missed the camraderie there, though I love the books nature of Goodreads. If AOL hadn't taken so long to bring it back up we might still be there today.
Now I guess we truly can never go back. Sad, but it was a place of great fun and book talk and we are still able to do that here and other places like Delphi. That is good.

Melodie (melodieco) | 3679 comments I haven't checked it in awhile, but the last time I did it opened okay. I do miss some of the people who didnt' come over here like Julie & Snap. Dan, have you heard anything from Margie? I've thought about her several times lately.

Donnajo | 4355 comments I know I don't post as much and I find I mark all read alot more than my usual. I just don't think it's the same and it's sad to have lost some that didn't move. Now that I'm not running back and forth to the shore I'm hoping I can get used to it again that is when I get a connection. When I don't get a connection it's upsetting just not getting online to do what I want to do. i know I have to do it but it's so expensive maybe not right away but after the first year. And not wanting to get the phone service that brings it up even more. And everyone I talk to about the phone companies that have it they hate it so don't even want to deal though them. It all depends if I give up AOL at the end of the year or not.

BarryP (barrypz) | 3502 comments I pass by the AOL board on my way to the (also) diminished tomato boards. I have not had any problems.

No, Mel, I haven't. She didn't answer the last e-mail I sent her after we'd switched over to Goodreads and I didn't want to be a pest.
