I'm on a roll: hope to finish The Magicians and Best Served Cold; and then The Goblin Emperor and Promise of Blood.

I'm continuing On the Edge...The Male MC was almost in my good grace, until he hit one of my major pet peeves: lets not worry them with information that will help them protect themselves, and possibly save their lives! After that I'll decide if I want to do one of the following:
1. Splurge on Karen Memory
2. Specifically choose a book club read from March
3. Randomly select a book club read from any of the previous months
4. Concentrate on a Series
Plus, I think I'm now officially falling behind on my "Anything Once" Challenge, so I need to find a way to catch up there.
So many books, so much indecision!
I started reading Hieroglyph: Stories and Visions for a Better Future last month and am only about half way through, so I'm going to continue on with it this month. For whatever reason, it always takes me longer to get through short story anthologies than novels. In any case, the book is pretty good so far. It's comprised of SF stories that hopefully inspire positive innovation. The Vandana Singh story "Entanglement" is my favorite so far; in fact, it's probably the best new short story I've read in years.
I think I'm doing pretty well with my challenges. - 16 out of 45 so far on I'll Try Anything.
13 Owned DTBs and 2 Audiobooks are finished in my Owned to Read challenge.
One book behind on my Graveyard challenge (I didn't read one in Feb) but that's OK.
My series challenge is hard to quantify... I finished one series, but then added one. I've read a few other books in ongoing series, though, so I think I'm in the black on that. :)
As for what I'm reading - I'm about 20% in on Karen Memory for After Earth's BOTM, and I'm liking it so far. That'll probably go into the Steampunk slot on my Anything challenge. So woo, more progress! :D
I'm struggling to write a review for an ARC I just finished. After that I'm on to Karen Memory. But I have so many [library] books piled up at my house I'm not sure what to read when, lol.
Greetings,I just finished The Winter People (4/5) and are looking forward to Startide Rising, Bellefleur and Dark Intelligence from the genre bookshelf this month.
I will also be reading Feminine Gospels: Poems and Rapture. I like reading poetry and short stories on the subway.
For school I have to read Philosophy of Social Science and Contemporary Political Philosophy: An Introduction.
I think this will be good month in reading.
/M
The New Yorker has a short Western story by Stephen King called A Death. After reading that, I wanted a Western, so I started The Gun Fight by Richard Matheson. It's pretty damn cool. Also working on Heir to the Jedi from NetGalley.
Chris wrote: "The New Yorker has a short Western story by Stephen King called A Death. After reading that, I wanted a Western, so I started The Gun Fight by Richard Matheson. It's ..."Hi Chris! The Gun Fight sounds good. Will you let me know what you think of it when you're done? I absolutely loved I Am Legend so I'd like to read more of his work.
As for myself I've continued to be reading at a slow pace. However I finish grad school next month (YAY) so maybe I'll have more time to read then. Right now I'm still reading Broken Homes. Peter Grant books are so much fun.
I'm currently reading Already Dead, and it's not really doing it for me. I read some reviews which say it picks up around the halfway mark... but, man... that seems so far away.
I'm about 75% done with Karen Memory... but since my kindle started acting up and telling me at 63% that I only had 39 mins left in the book, it's felt like it has been dragging FOREVER to get to the end. I think part of it is the way that Karen's telling the story, but part of it is also that I just don't really feel invested in it. It's interesting, but not compelling. If that makes sense.

I have this from the library but haven't started it yet. I admit - I'm kinda skerded. I usually enjoy, or at least don't mind, writing in an accent, or whatever, but I had trouble reading the blurb on this one...
Yeah. The whole book is like that. It DOES get a little easier the more you read it, because you kind of tune your ear to her lingo... but even now, almost 80% through, and I'm still having to re-read lines to figure out what she's getting at. And I definitely wish that there was more world-building. We have such a limited perspective from Karen. Bleh.
I just checked out The Providence of Fire from my library. I hope I can remember what happened in the previous book!
Damn. I started Karen Memory a few weeks ago but couldn't get into it. Thought i was just in a mood. Had planned to pick it back up, but maybe not now.
My plan this month is to finish the main Brandon Sanderson Cosmere books. I am 75% through Words of Radiance then Warbreaker and finally Elantris.
LOL - Good point, MrsJ! Ala, I don't think it's a bad book, it's just taking a bit of patience and concentration to get through. For me. Might not be an issue for anyone else.
Hmm. My wait for the price to drop on Karen Memory. Really not feeling the $12.99; especially if there's a chance it will frustrate the hell out of me.

I've been so disappointed by my library in the past, that I tend to forget about them as an option, to be honest.
I'm in luck, however, as my fairy book mother snuck in at some point today, and left a gift for me. :)
Hey all, sorry to disappear! I've been reading, but not necessarily group books.Anyways, I just finished The Just City, which is a sci-fi book about an experimental city based on the works of Plato. It's a great read, especially if you're a fan of classical philosophy and mythology.
I'm currently working on Brown Girl Dreaming (historical fiction).
My Fairy Book Mother sends me to the library. Not all bad though:
The Big Over Easy
In the Cities of Coin and Spice
I've been in a reading slump for the past couple of weeks. I had started on A Rogue by Any Other Name thinking that one of my cheesy romances would help as a palate cleanser, but instead I'm sort of bored by it and haven't picked it up in a good while.I then started re-reading Code Name Verity for book club. Didn't get very far in because I got sick and didn't make it to the meeting. I didn't even bother adding it to my challenge list nor do I want to continue wasting time re-reading.
So, now I've started reading Death Masks during lunch. Mainly because I wanted to avoid the lunch room conversation of how much the snow sucks. :) Hopefully, Dresden will help kick off the slump.
I'm a few books behind on my GR yearly challenge, so I'm aiming for short or quick reads now. Last night I started on Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation, which I'm enjoying quite a lot, though it's not as funny as I think the author thinks it is. Still it's pretty interesting! After that, not sure...
I went to Tallahassee today to visit my Fairy Book Mother at Books A Million. She got me The Armageddon Rag & Wool Omnibus (Silo, #1) paperbacks for $3.97 each.

That's pretty sweet!
Chris wrote: "You mean, Wooo! Omnibus?"
lol
First week of March just about done & dusted it seems. Due to an increased workload, I'm still reading On the Edge; well not so much reading, as looking longingly at my Kindle while I grade papers, and try to find supplemental material to the lesson plans I've been given.
Nicki wrote: "I sort of went off course with my plans, and after finishing Karen Memory, I read Fortune's Pawn. On the whole I really liked it -- it has some great world-building ..."I need to read that. Hopefully I like it better than the Fantasy I read by her.
Ala wrote: "Just finished the new star wars book.I want my old EU back."
It's still there. Has a currency and everything.
Laurel wrote: "Not like the Timothy Zahn books?"Nope. Nowhere near Zahn quality. Hell, not even as good as last years star wars book by James SA Corey.

LOL I keep thinking the same thing.
