I'm *still* reading 'Already Dead'.I'm marginally more interested now than I was before, but not enough to pick reading over TV if given the option.

I was pretty underwhelmed by that one too.
Still working on this new one. It's ok, but I don't feel compelled to read much/often.
I wonder if signing those authors to write books in the Star Wars universe was a bit like stunt casting. A way to draw in a new fan base?Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of both Kevin Hearne and James SA Corey. But neither screams Star Wars to me.
Chris wrote: "I went to Tallahassee today to visit my Fairy Book Mother at Books A Million. She got me The Armageddon Rag & Wool Omnibus (Silo, #1) paperbacks for $3.97 each."
Chris have you not read Wool Omnibus yet? You're in for such a treat!
Nicki wrote: "Having finished off Rachel Bach's Paradox trilogy (which was really quite good), I randomly plucked The Neverending Story off the shelf, because it was sitting near my desk and I hav..."I need to read the Paradox trilogy and the Neverending story, too.
Currently concentrating on The Feral Child by Che Golden. Not bad overall, but the MC could use a slap :S
I finally finished One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest last night... Now I'm starting Lonesome Dove as a buddy read with some friends.
Becky, what did you think of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest? I have had it recommended to me a couple of times. I am currently reading Trigger Warning: Short Fictions and Disturbances,
I liked it a lot more than I actually thought that I would, despite not liking the components that it's made of. LOL (That makes no sense... I know.) It was a good story though, I thought. Not sure how it compares to the movie, because I don't remember much about the movie. I plan on watching it again tonight or tomorrow.

I think I at least sort of get what you mean. When I read the summary just now, I wasn't sure how interested I was. That being said, I think it is a classic, and it might be interesting to try. What did you like about it?
LOL Yeah. I don't like reading about random chaos and stuff, so I definitely thought I wouldn't care for it. But I ended up really liking the characters and the nature of the conflict, and the way that McMurphy's influence affected the ward in both positive and negative ways... I really enjoyed the writing, especially the narrative style and the narrator. He was my favorite character.
I've been in a bit of a reading slump. It hasn't been helped by my husband. Almost every time I sit down to read he's asking me to do something because "you aren't doing anything but sitting there." WTF? Really? I could have sworn I was reading.
Becky wrote: "You need a Cone of Reading. It's kind of like the Cone of Silence, but for reading."YES.
Along with a huge sign that says "Currently reading. DO NOT DISTURB. Unless donuts."
It does seem that an open book translates to most people as a sign that says "Talk to me".The only thing that will make people talk to me faster is if I'm wearing earbuds.

OMG. So full of truth.
Homeinmyshoes wrote: "I had a donut this morning. Perhaps another one for the afternoon."I have to stay away. I housed like 4-5 donuts yesterday.
Oh my goodness, you all are not helping! I've been so good - snacking on apples, a fruit smoothie, trail mix...I will not eat a donut, I will not eat a donut...

:-D
Have some willpower for me, too!
I sort of inadvertantly 'befriended' a woman who takes the same train in as me. (One day the train was cancelled, so she decided to drive in, and she offered me a ride since we also get off at the same stop. I took her up on her offer, and now we're "friends". Anyway... )She's a talker. She used to sit with this other woman, but she recently retired... so now she sits near me and talks.
And talks.
And talks...
I feel rude saying, "Look, lady, I just want to read my book!" But I have sort of been trying to give her the hint...
Somedays it works better than others.

That really sucks. Isn't your ride an hour??
Nah - just about 30 minutes, give or take.My thing is I don't mind chatting with her while we're waiting for the train. But once we get on the train it's "me time".
But how do you say that?
(Also, it's not even like she's talking TV or anything. It's mostly crap about her family.)
It seems I've been gone awhile. I have not read anything not work related since whenever my "Currently Reading" says I last read. I'm currently on a long term subbing assignment for the rest of the school year. Teachers are not given a "time for reading" period, not even Language Arts teachers which is what I am right now.
This experience has inspired me to look into returning to school, however, in order to finish my degree and a teaching certificate. I'm leaning towards English Language Arts and Reading, but I wouldn't mind math either (which is something I never thought I would say.) My biggest (and really only) hurdle is funds. I don't qualify for grants, and I'm not sure I can handle taking on a student loan.
On the plus side, Spring Break is right around the corner, so hopefully I'll be able to squeeze in a book.

I hope you get to go back! But you should get a reading period...
Last day of the month!I was going to start The Skull Throne last night but then I got all crazy and decided I wanted to re-read the first three books before I read that one. So.... Reading The Warded Man.
I gotta quit it with these re-reads. But... I love re-reading. It gives me warm fuzzies.
You make me want to finish those..I'm still working (slowly) on Clash of Eagles and Fool's Errand on audio.

I started registering online yesterday, and their darn server went on the fritz 3 times during my attempts. Will try again today.
