I have it 3 stars. The first half was strong, but the second half was unsatisfactory. The author is a medical doctor, and the first half deals heavily on a medical situation (although not the author's medical specialty), so maybe that's why the first half is stronger? The emotional connections are actually the strength of the first half, but maybe he is more familiar with the emotional feelings related to medical situations that the parts of the plot dealt with in part 2?
It was a pleasant enough read, but I was disappointed by the ending especially. It was like he couldn't figure out how to end the story, so he just stopped.
