November 2022 group read #2 From Below by Darcy Coates
I'm joining this discussion for November. I'm sort of embarrassed that this is going to be my first Darcy Coates full length novel. I did read her Small Horrors: A Collection of Fifty Creepy Stories anthology and enjoyed it.
I recently read this one, and can't wait to hear what others think--the story is still fresh in my mind! :)

Officially it begins on the 1st, but you can start reading whenever you like. If commenting, just remember to use spoiler tags if discussing plot points.

Nice :) I'm going to squeeze this one in even tho I have like 4 books starting on the 1st. I always do that to myself lol.

same i currently have way over that and honestly I should have a supervisor when checking out books
I've been forced to create a new category, "up next." The books I plan to read for the month go in there. Otherwise I make all these plans and then squirrel out by the time the new month starts.
Just read this one! Coates knows how to build creepy atmosphere. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.

LOL I have too many of their mugs and glasses! They keep coming out with cute ones!
I just read this a few months ago. Such a great choice for this month's read. I will be following along to see what everyone is talking about! Enjoy!!
Ooooo :D I really like this book!! I read it on kindle but I bought the audio when it came out. :) Even though I just read this book a few months ago, if i have time in November, I'll join up in the reading and listen to the audio. :) I'm interested to see what all everyone thinks of it....
I just finished Gallows Hill the other day and was thinking about starting From Below. Now that I have seen that this will be starting in a few days I'm glad I waited! So how do you put the spoiler tags on posts?
Hi everyone ! Surprisingly I was able to finish the first choice book so I’ll be able to read the second choice! I’ll start today and post things as I go along !
Has anyone started this book? The whole scuba thing freaks me out. Being underwater and relying on a tank for my oxygen is too much for me. I tried it once and hated it. Curious if anyone reading are divers?
I am on chapter 11. The first book has not arrived yet so I am reading the second book now. I hate water so no diving for me.
I can swim as long as I can feel the bottom and will not venture anywhere where it might be deep.
I have almost drowned in the community pool and now I’m being paranoid!! I live in FL near the beach so go figure 😆
So far I enjoy the read!🙂
Will try to start today, I'm in a crazy cleaning mode as I have some family visiting for a 1.5 weeks on Sunday. This I'd rather be on the SS Arcadia than cleaning lol.

I keep finding new books or remembering books that I want to read until I'm overwhelmed and can't pick a book.
I am halfway through, it’s slowly progressing but moving along just fine and is an easy readSo far I am enjoying the dive!
🤿🌊👍

I'm on page 147, the divers have just found (view spoiler) If you are curious if the science is sound, please watch this video by Caitlin Doughty regarding the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0Lg9...
If your an audible member, this is the daily deal today. 11/6/22. It’s 3.99. I got it so I’ll be starting this tomorrow.

your welcome!
Picked it up from the library yesterday and looking forward to starting it tonight! I’m out on a boat today so I suppose it’s appropriate timing
I had to stop last night at page 433...... So close to the end. The creep factor is strong in this one. I can see why there is so much praise for Darcy Coates, if this is her writing style. I dreamt about being a passenger on a cruise ship last night. I'm laying the blame on this book and I spent the weekend working on our families plans for an Alaskan cruise in 2024.
It was a very unsettling dream.
I started listening to this this morning. I’m struggling with it. My mind keeps flashing back to Dead Silence that we read back in March? May?
LOL!! I agree!!“I must warn all readers something very important: If you're as old as me and faithfully watched The Golden Girls, you might have difficulties stumbling over the name "Devereaux." Every time he was mentioned the name "Blanche" just kept on popping into my brain!”
Latasha wrote: "I started listening to this this morning. I’m struggling with it. My mind keeps flashing back to Dead Silence that we read back in March? May?"I was reminded of The Deep by Alma Katsu, but only at first. It really picks up after the first dive.
This is my first Darcy Coates book, and I loved it so much I went and added her to my BookBub authors so I can catch her books when they go on sale. The build up in the beginning was a little slow, but it really picked up speed about a third of the way in and did not flag a bit. Good character development, suuuuper creepy, and fascinating approach to the haunted derelict story. So much fun!

The runner up for our November Group read is From Below by Darcy Coates with 2nd most votes, super popular with so many! After some further internet research I can see why.
