Kristy Johnston | 220 comments I think I gave away my identity yesterday to one of my giftees when I tried to forward a link from Amazon that they hadn't received via an email account that I didn't think had my name on it. How are you guys doing that if they don't get the original notice?

Do you just copy the link Amazon gives you when you revoke the gift into an anonymous Elfster message?

I have a bunch that I think are unclaimed from this year because I think they didn't get the original notice. I didn't see any other way to resend it yet I know my Secret Santa had to forward one to me 3 times before I got it and I'm not sure how they did that.

Oh yikes, that's not a fun problem to have! So far I've been able to message them on Elfster, telling them to search their email for an amazon gift from my elf name. Maybe if they do that, you won't have to resend it?

Good tip on having them search for my elf name. I'll try that with the next one.

Hemmel M. | 402 comments I was collecting elf names, yesterday, and noticed several real names. On top of that there were several mentions of 'a Santa who' s real name I will not unveil'.

Just in case.....
Don't give mine away! I have a few, but I like holding onto them.
I will reveal myself privately when the time comes 😉😁

Hemmel M. | 402 comments I am not revealing, just a summary of the 'goodies' thread.

That's quite a task! We have 683 given away so far.

We split the job in three.

Oh good. I never reveal my elf names but I usually reveal to my match unless my match is REALLY bad.

Same! I've been alternating elf names the last couple years because I'm not creative enough to think of new ones lol

message 111: by Hemmel M. (new)

Hemmel M. | 402 comments I spend hours for every new elf name.

message 112: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 71 comments @Hemmel mine definitely took a lot of workshopping, but I’m really pleased with how it came out. Now I have to decide if I ruin it by revealing it, or keep it forever, knowing nothing I come up with could ever be this good 😂

message 113: by Hemmel M. (new)

Hemmel M. | 402 comments You can sent an anonymous Elfster message to your match, asking if they want to know. Then ask them to keep it secret.

message 114: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 71 comments Fortunately, I didn’t use my elf name with my giftee, so I can claim them without ruining my elf name. 😊

Same. I always use something like Secret Elfster Elf or Secret Elfster Santa for my match so I can reveal myself to them at the end. I don't like ending up on the Island of Unclaimed Misfits, so I don't want to do that to anyone else.

message 116: by Kristy (new)

Kristy Johnston | 220 comments Smashwords question - I have a few unredeemed gifts on Smashwords from previous years. Can I forward the link to those to someone else so that they can claim them? or do you have to be the original recipient? I hate for them to sit there unclaimed.

message 117: by M'rella (new)

M'rella (mrella) | 792 comments I get on a roll and I totally forget to switch names. Then I am thinking "ok, let's come up with a different name" so I use that for my giftee only to forget to switch back. It's like a pet peeve or something, but I can't help it 🤣😄🤣 Happens. every. year. So by the end of the exchange I end up with two or three different names, not counting secret santa or secret elf. (True story!)

Anyway, wanted to post this eye-candy (semi-safe for work - topless Santa) but it's a video, so I can only provide a link. Enjoy! 😉

If you can get the link, yes, you can. You would need the original email, I think.

Hemmel M. | 402 comments Kristy, The first one to click on that Smashwords URL gets the only download, no matter how they got the link.

Kristy Johnston | 220 comments @ Sandra & @Hemmel - Thanks for the info! Hopefully I can find someone who wants the books.
