I wonder what data they need and what they don't care about. I mean, Amazon collects and sells our reading interest and friend network. Maybe there is no market for the data collected by, for example, book formats (other editions). Then it makes no sense to invest in that aspect, when it does not make a profit.

Sheri mentioned in a comment on another thread, "You can gift any book to anyone in the exchange BUT (this is a helpful tip) if you follow someone, you can see if a book has been purchased by someone else and note if you buy a book, that you purchased it yourself. If you aren't following someone, you are taking the chance that they have (or will) receive that book again.:My question: if I'm logged into my Elfster account and mark "purchased" on another participant's wishlist (which it shows I can do if I'm following them), will it notify them that I marked something on their list as purchased and if it does notify them, does it reveal that it was me that did so?
I asked a friend that very same question today, and they said no, they couldn’t see when I marked it as bought. Only other people can see it. And it didn’t give any hints as to the identity of the person who bought it. Hope that helps!
Ok - so found another way to add books to my wishlist and it makes it sooooooo much easier. I gave up on it trying to have the price show on there. At least this directly connects you to the Amazon page. You have to have Google Chrome to do it, but there is an extension you can add to Chrome that literally lets you search what you want on Amazon and when you've found it just click the extension button and it asks if you want to add this item. Their search on Elfster is just going to give me a migraine.
I found that putting a book title in quotation marks helps it search for only that title. Helps weed out random garbage. And if you search for it multiple times it can also help find what you’re looking for. I also find that I can get different results using the Elfster app rather than the website. I wish it wasn’t so difficult, but at least I’ve been able to find everything I’ve been looking for! 😂
So,uhm, I've been tinkering with my wishlist because I noticed it didn't show the description with the email and GR links I used other years but... it is just me or has it become more complicated and difficult to add these details? I wanna cry T_T I did manage to include at least my email but can't to do the same with the GR list argh....

Thank you so much, this was driving crrrrraaaaazy. I always mark as purchased so people don’t get multiple books but I thought that feature disappeared. Mystery solved, thanks 😊
Did Amazon change the timing on sending gifts? I could have sworn that I clicked on the delivery immediately rather than the schedule for later but the confirmation screen said that the recipient wouldn't get the notification until midnite. I'm all about instant gratification, even when gifting. 😜
Instead of now which was the default option, it now show the day where you are so at 12:30 AM central which I am if bought then this morning would say 11/19 and no matter where the gifter is Amazon sends it between 12 and 3 AM Pacific time. But if after that in small print if you choose the default it say will be emailed as soon as the order finishes processing.
FYI- I think I responded to all of the technical issue messages so far, so hopefully things are going smoothly for most people!!

Can we have a new "Amazon Kindle" thread? They've changed so many things since last year (it's maddening!)
- unclaimed gifts can be revoked within only 60 days,
- you can no longer return/exchange a gifted book,
- you can't send a reminder to your giftee either (the way to do that now would be to revoke and then re-send the gift).
It can be very useful to summarize the changes in the initial post.
Those who received a duplicate gift or decided to exchange the gifted book can post in that thread to let their Secret Santas and Elves know. That way the posts won't get lost in other threads.

I like this idea. I think we can make a new topic ourselves, or we can wait for Heather. The trouble with The 'Zon, LOL.

Yes!! Great idea. I'm soooo frustrated with them. Why did they have to go and mess things up??
Please feel free to make another thread! I'm busy troubleshooting individual issues on my end so I'm swamped over here!
Heather K (dentist in my spare time) wrote: "Please feel free to make another thread! I'm busy troubleshooting individual issues on my end so I'm swamped over here!"On it!
GR won't allow me to create a thread in this community. Nadine and I both made posts in "Random Chat" thread. Can you just copy and paste either one into a new "Amazon Kindle Q&A; Return and exchange requests" thread?
The three people I spoke to at Amazon Customer Service were under impression there is still an "exchange" button somewhere and you need to click on it before claiming the book. Two of them suggested I call each time I want to exchange a gifted book.
The are just as confused there as we are.

Crap, thanks for noticing! They like to complicate things, and most everything worked finally great last year to... *sigh*

Yeah, they don't know either, when I noticed I had a duplicate book gifted they ended up telling me to talk to the gifter(s) to revoke the book. There is no return button now.

Seems like wishlist descriptions are back on Elfster... they can't seem to make up their mind about Updates either

That's a good update at least!

iam wrote: "Seems like wishlist descriptions are back on Elfster... they can't seem to make up their mind about Updates either"So is wasn't me! I have been clicking and searching and could not find it.
Not a question but just an FYI...For some reason my receipts from Amazon today have my real name instead of my elf name. I thought I had accidentally forgotten to replace it but it doesn't appear so. Strange since my receipts last week were addressed to my elf name.

Even though it was giving me that message, my giftee seems to be getting the notice immediately.
Kristy wrote: "Roger - president of NBR United - wrote: "Instead of now which was the default option, it now show the day where you are so at 12:30 AM central which I am if bought then this morning would say 11/1..."Yes it is stated on order page, completion just say what you said.
hmmm. anyone else encountered a glitch?? with elfster where the exchange feed appears blank and says there's no activity?
I've reloaded and signed out and signed back in, but nothing seems to help.

I didn't see this message but when I opened Elster this morning, it said I wasn't participating in this exchange. I shut down and came back after a hour and it looks fine now. They must be messing around with it.
Kit wrote: "hmmm. anyone else encountered a glitch?? with elfster where the exchange feed appears blank and says there's no activity?"I've been having the same problem for days now. Highly irritating. 😒
Elftser needs a magical wand to restore things to their 'pre upgrades'. I don't think their messaging system is working correctly either. I never got a notification that I had a message...from a week ago! Argh
Ok, we’ll at least I’m not to only one with the activity feed issue! Irritating that I can’t see new wishes. Maybe it will start working soon. Not a good time of year for them to do any updates lol
Aղցela W. wrote: "Can I get a refund from smashwords? How do I do it?"You cannot, I think. They don't give refunds. You may be able to give the link to someone else to see if they can redeem/accept the gift. I haven't tried that so I don't know if it'll work.

Ok thanks
Should we get a separate thread (yet another thread, I know) where we can all list unclaimed books. That way it's easier for people to see them and choose what they want.I have 4 unclaimed books so far that I can give away.
Roger has books to give away, and a Fairly Fruity Elf(?) has at least one book they can give away too.

Yes, this works. With Smashwords you can't return books, but can change format or forward the download link to another giftee by email.
You can send the gift to your ss email address first, and from there write a message and forward the gift to another's mail address.
