I am looking for a book I read about 10 years ago. I am not sure if it was a new release or if it had been published for a while.

I remember a teenage girl as the main character, who was going on holiday to visit her grandmother interstate (I believe set in America). When she was at the airport waiting for the plane, the airport was hit by a terrorist group with assult rifles, who started shooting everyone. I think she was shot and while 'crossing over' she was approached by a young man who said that it wasn't her time and told her to go back. She woke up in the airport and was one of the only survivors.

From there, having partially crossed over, she develops the ability to walk through shadows and appear somewhere else, guided by the assistance of the young man who she met when she was dead.

I think the story was book one of a two set series, and the book is told using two points of view which changed chapter to chapter.
