Arielle~Glad you loved The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store. Sure you will enjoy The Color of Water: A Black Man's Tribute to His White Mother as well. Helps understand James McBride’s background so well.

Kristine | 284 comments I just finished Harlem Rhapsody by Victoria Christopher Murray Harlem Rhapsody by Victoria Christopher Murray This is the Author who co-wrote The Personal Librarian with Marie Benedict which I loved. I thought she deserved more credit for co-writing that book.

This book shows what an exceptional writer she is. I had never heard of Jessie Redmon Fauset before. She was both a writer and Edited The Crisis, the preeminent negro magazine of the 1920’s. She has both a professional and personal relationship with with W.E.B. DuBois. The Author’s notes were terrific. I had both the book and the audio and really recommend this book.

It definitely has! What an incredible story. I love the way he doesn't water any of it down... I tend to prefer autobiographies and fiction - esp autobiographies of fiction writers, so it's been a real treat this month reading both!

Andrew Goliszek | 1 comments Litarary Titan Gold Book Award Winner.
Like Embers in the Night is a historical novel based on the incredible story of two gulag and Soviet labor camp survivors following Stalin's invasion of Poland. Given what's happening in Russia and Ukraine today, it's a timely and chilling read. Read the reviews on www.andrewgoliszek.com/book-reviews.

message 2039: by Dominik (new)

Dominik Grędziński | 1 comments "The Sirens of Titan" - is the weakest of his books. It was not enough crazy and innovative for me. I became a great fan of Vonnegut's humour and satire on society, which he skillfully hides in absurd scenes, which you have to understand within context. "The Sirens of Titan" doesn't provide such a kind of experience.
