Doctrines of Hatred, Part I, Anti-Semitism
by Anatole Leroy-Beaulieu is the last book I read its entirety.
Although published in 1902, it is startling just how relevant it is today, in the wake of recent events in the Middle East (and the U.S., and France, etc.).
From the preface:
"This book is addressed to people with open minds. It runs counter to a good number of prejudices and flatters none of them, which is not going to please a great number of readers. It deals with questions wherein one is so seldom used to impartiality that one is ill-disposed to tolerate it..."
"The very [people] whom I will have failed to convince will accord me this justice at least, that during the course of this work I have always been inspired by the spirit of freedom and the feelings of concord and, allow me to add, the spirit of patriotism and the spirit of charity. I have had no other goal than to combat the hatreds that exist..."
Anika wrote: "White Nights by Fyodor Dostoevsky :)"Nice Choice. It does not get much better than Dostoevsky. Although Leon Bloy gets quite close at times in intensity and angst. For instance in Blood of the Poor (which is not a novel), or The Desperate Man (which is).
I just read Keys to My Heart by Tania Gold. Loved it. Loved the scenery in New York. Loved the character development and Loved how it made me feel at the end. Highly recommend to read by the christmas tree. Keys To My HeartTania Gold
The weekend was murder (Mary Elizabeth # 1) and the dark and deadly pool (Mary Elizabeth # 2) By Joan lowery Nixon

The Silent Patient. It wasn't worth the hype or the time it took to listen to the audio book. I initially DNF'd it, and should've left it unread.
I finished Iron Flame. I read a lot of fantasy, but this was hard to read. I am in the minority when I say that I did not like it. It did not hold my interest let alone let me escape reality for a little bit.
Jonathan Abernathy You Are Kind, by Molly McGhee. I had both the book and the audio of this one. It was such a strange book, but really worked for me. Jonathan Abernathy is deeply in debt, can’t find a decent job, and thinks he’s worthless. So, when he is offered a job as a dream auditor he is very enthused. That job entails going into workers dreams and auditing out the bad parts so the person will be more productive at work. Definitely Unique and Creative.
The Truth about the Harry Quebert Affair. This was such a good read, I could get through a huge chunk of pages in no time. I love mystery & suspense and this was a perfect combo. Everything came together in the end and I can say I audibly gasped.
The last book I read was an incredible journey into fantasy realms, filled with captivating characters and intricate plot twists. The narrative beautifully intertwined magical elements with real-life emotions, keeping me hooked till the very end.
