A puzzle for you today - a patron wants to find a children's book they read to their children in the 80s. It's about a baby who grows larger every time they cry. Eventually the baby is so large their brother needs to climb a ladder to feed it cake at which point it shrinks back to human size. The book has pictures.

The Gigantic Baby by Mordicai Gerstein looks like a match, although it was apparently first published in 1991.
