I read this book in the 2010s but might be older than that.

It starts with 2 siblings (older boy, younger girl I think) living with an uncaring, abusive family. There's something about a chicken hut. It's cold, and rural. Eventually they run away and live in the wild for a bit.

They meet a tramp at some point who might teach them to poach animals. Then, after some more travels (maybe involving a gypsy caravan?) they end up in an urban area. They find the tramp again, and a printing press... it turns out that the tramp and some other characters are fallen angels.

I remember really liking the cover. I think it had sunset-type colours, and some silhouettes of children and a caravan. The author was female- maybe called Liv?

Read in England. I would love to find it.
