Suspense - book is about man on the outside of a window ledge

Looking to find out the name of a book my dad recommended. He has sadly passed away and I can't remember the title of the book. All I know is that the whole book is about the main character on the outside od a window, possibly contemplating suicide?

Do you know whether it was a full-length book, or a short story?

I know of a short story called Contents of the Dead Man's Pockets by Jack Finney that fits this description, though he is not contemplating suicide. I came across it in an anthology called Stories of Suspense, selected by Mary E. MacEwen. Well worth a read, even if it is not your book.

Thank you for your response, I'm not sure about the suicide aspect but know it was a full length book. I will certainly take a look though!
