I'm thinking of buying a Kindle and would appreciate thoughts on whether it is worth it or not? If you use a Kindle -- do you like it and why or why not? What are some of the advantages vs disadvantages? Thanks so much!!

I like kindles better than books for some books. It’s more versatile and easy to travel with. Imo it’s a worthwhile investment because the books are a lot cheaper on kindle and you can get them for free from websites like z library
Yes. I got mine for Christmas last year and i love it. I have kindle unlimited as well and I think it is completely worth it. I find I read faster on my kindle and it is very convenient. Personally I find it helps when I’m in reading slumps. Also can definitely help save money because instead of buying books you can just read them on your kindle. Would 100% recommend getting one.
I have a kindle fire (which is basically a cheaper Kindle with colors)(bulkier too tjough). I use Libby to get my books and I enjoy it. It makes getting digital books really easy and depending on the model, very easy to carry around. You should check out the Kindle app just to see some of the features of the actual kindle though. And see if you like or dislike them. The only disadvantage to having a kindle is that it's all digital. Good luck!
YES. I bought it when it was on sale and it was the best decision of my life. it’s easier to read in bed and it’s so much cheaper. if you download the books on zlibrary as a mobi file then u can send them to your kindle and it’s free 💃💃
YES YES YES.For me reading got so much better with a kindle, sometimes I'm still reading on paper cause I like the feeling, the smell and putting the book back in the library. BUT you can bring the kindle everywhere without being scared of ruining it. You can read much more comfortably even with one hand. You can put it somewhere and read while you do other things. Kindle books are cheaper, there are a ton for free as well, on Amazon (no Kindle unlimited) on some sites (comoeltly legal) of course there is also the non legal way but I'd rather not talk about that.
You can read anywhere and you don't need a light, I often read in bed with my bf I put the dark mode on and he doesn't even notice. I read faster cause it's much quicker to open the kindle and read anywhere. If you get bored of the book you are reading you can just change in 1 second.
Kindle is amezing

Is there one that can do better and/or different things?

Would it require money to get on the Kindle / how does that work?

Thanks for the insight! Great to know about the dark mode because that was definitely something I had questions about!
Yes. Super recommend. I got one as an early birthday gift and I beyond love it. It’s bumped up my reading too!

How much cheaper, on average, would you say books on Kindles are than paper books ?
I agree with what everyone's said so far!! I had mainly read on my phone when I was getting back into reading and the kindle is a great in-between between reading on a phone/tablet/computer and a physical book! The backlight and dark mode is SO nice to have on the Paperwhite. My eyes feel so much better reading on the kindle and it's also lightweight compared to reading a physical book. I switch through a lot of books so it's nice to just have it all on one device. The battery life is REALLY great.I also use both Kindle Unlimited subscription and Libby/Overdrive apps (to connect to local libraries) too! I read so many library books and it's just a tap to send it to my kindle phone app + paperwhite.
The only downside I have is when dealing with public wifi, but I just use my mobile hotspot to download new books. Also it can take a bit to get used to the slow response time (it isn't too bad). Accessing GoodReads isn't great on the Kindle, but I like the site on desktop the best anyway lol. I personally think the Paperwhite Signature 32GB is worth the price .The main draw is the auto brightness which isn't a deal breaker, but it is really nice to have and I also like the size. (Also a tip if you do get the Paperwhite Signature: I know people recommend getting the kid's version since it's basically the same thing but w/ a free case + 2 year warranty instead of 1 year. You'll just have to cancel the free Kids+ subscription at some point before it renews.)
I forget if the new base kindle also has the autobrightness or not, but I know it has the backlight + dark mode at the least. I know many people say just having a 16GB kindle is more than enough if you're just doing e-books. I do audiobooks on my phone/comp. but I just like having a looooot of space since I also do PDFs and comics.
I've definitely saved a lot of money with having a Kindle + Kindle Unlimited (ebooks tend to be $5-20 depending on publisher/author) and I'm personally more selective with what I buy physically due to limited space. There does tend to be a lot of sales on kindle books though so you can use sites like https://ereaderiq.com/ to look at price history. It's kind of a routine for me to check for sales now 🤣 https://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&...

Am I able to download books and read them any where (connected to WiFi or not) and then delete them from my library once I am done reading them to open up space or is that not common? Also, does downloading the audio recording of a book take up more storage or does it come with every book downloaded anyway? Thank you!
Yes, definitely!!! I delete books all the time and there are filters where you can separate what you have downloaded vs. your collection and even filters for kindle unlimited + library loans. You don't need to have internet connection to read at all if you have things downloaded.😄It does take up additional space for the audio recording of a book, but that's only based on my experience using the kindle app on phone. I just tested this with The Unwanted Wife where the narration was 105mb and the book is only 835 kb. So not really that big of a deal haha!

I use the kindle app on my iPad, which I love! But if you don’t have that I would say yes to the kindle itself. It’s so much more convenient that carrying around physical books all the time. And great for traveling.

Yes! A kindle is a great way to read lots of books if you are an indecisive reader and don’t wanna bring 10 books along with you! It’s small and fits everywhere and is pretty cheap
Yes!! it is so convenient! My Kindle has not replaced my love for bookshelves, it has just changed the way I consume popular media. Besides, you can use the Libby app to bowwow ebooks from the library, even.
Yea because you can always switch and sometimes find some good books on kindle unlimited. Also it can help going between the kindle and paperback to avoid bookslump.
I love going out and buying books but sometimes it's nice to have the option of just picking whatever you want in that moment from home. Instant gratification. 10/10 would recommend a Kindle.
