35 -- A Book You Meant To Read Last Year
Kimberley wrote: "The Ocean at the end of the lane by Neil Gaiman"This is such an amazing book. My boyfriend bought it for me. I finished it in 48 hours
The Accomplice by Steve Cavanagh Started reading this at the very end of last year so picked it back up again today and figure it would be a good one to tick off for this category ✅️
Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn. Had requested it from my library before summer and it took until December to arrive, and then I let it sit as had some ‘festively seasonal’ books to read. Began it Jan 1. Really worth the wait!
Phosphorescence: On Awe, Wonder and Things That Sustain You When the World Goes Dark by Australian journalist, broadcaster and author Julia Baird is a self-help book and memoir about how to find beauty and awe in the small things in life to buoy us through the tough times. Here is my review
Jumper by Steven Gould I've actually put this one off for two years due to distractions with other books and life.
I read Finding Christmas by Karen Schaler. I meant to read it in December as part of my Christmas collection but ran out of time so I read it the first few days of January. Super cute read!
I read The Rose Code by Kate Quinn. I had read a short story Ms. Quinn penned last year, Signal Moon, which was also about a British woman code breaker -- one of my favorite short stories ever -- and I planned to read this book after, but I ran out of time in 2022.
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
It's been on the shelf for a while and I need to finish it cause my spouse wants to watch the movie.
The Locked Room by Elly Griffiths #14 in the Dr Ruth Galloway series. I had been gifted 12 of these and started the series in September 222. Reserved the remaining ones at the library in December but only picked it up January. Set during the pandemic which felt weird!
The Christmas Spirit by Debbie Macomber I wanted to read this before Christmas last year, but I liked it this year instead. 3 stars.
I wanted to start the year reading this prompt, reading one of the books that I didn't have time to read last year.I read Angels & Demons by Dan Brown. A fun visit to Vatican City and Rome. It really made me want to go back and visit again.
It obviously fits this prompt for me, but many others also. I will add it to the lists if anyone wants to read it.
Just started “Oh William” by Elizabeth Strout. It was sitting on my shelf and I think I was saving it and then forgot about it until I got a present this Christmas of her next novel, “William by the Sea”. So I’m very excited to get into “Oh William” and will review it in my “read” shelf as soon as I’m finished.
The Incredible years by Carolyn Webster- Stratton. I did the Incredible years parenting course last year but never got round to reading the accompanying book
I read "Marriage Be Hard: 12 Conversations to Keep You Laughing, Loving, and Learning with Your Partner" by Kevin and Melissa Fredericks
It Starts with Us by Colleen Hoover. I hate that this book received so much hate. I liked it a lot. Not as good as the first, but definitely a good read.
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. I have picked this up and put it down a few times but it's a book club read this year so hoping that is the motivation I need to finally finish.
I read unmask Alice: LSD, satanic panic, and the imposter behind the worlds most notorious diaries by Rick Emerson
Measuring the World by Daniel Kehlmann, translated by Carol Brown Janeway. https://cdnbookworm.blogspot.com/2023...I started this book last year, but got sidetracked.
Secret Service Dogs: The Heroes Who Protect the President of the United States by Maria Goodavage 5 stars!! Great book.
Trauma Room Too by Philip Allen Green M.D. 5+ Stars One of the best doctor memoir books I've every read.
the Secret Keeper of Jaipur...I won an ARC of the Perfumer of Paris and needed to read this first but didn't;t get around to it until January!
