Review:
I didn’t love this one as much as I thought I would. I usually really enjoy the Argeneau series. I did enjoy the passing of time since we first met Steph all those years ago. And I liked what a unique genetic makeup Thorne had. The more sensual scenes were spicy but I just didn’t really feel the romance in this one compared to other books in the series. Also the action was a little less heart pumping. But it delivered what I am used to from the series in terms of sexy supernaturals finding their soulmates. It just wasn’t one of the more captivating stories from the series.

This is the ninth book in the Mercy Thompson series. I haven’t read this series in awhile, don’t know why. This book has everything I like: great characters and exciting plot. We are introduced to two new characters a troll- who doesn’t love a troll and a boy. Mercy is one bad-ass woman, love her. Read this series if you haven’t !

Np, totally understand !

Review: Although there were some twilight vibes to this, it actually had an interesting premise -- boarding school for supernaturals. I thought the first half was a little too much filler, but it was never boring and I didn't lose interest. The second half was much better -- things were finally getting explained, events were happening. There was a cliffhanger at the end which I figured since that's the way series are written these days. I was ready to order the next book, but then read some spoilers that have unfortunately put me off continuing the series. So for me it was a pretty good standalone (with my own made up ending).

I'm reading Ruby Fever by Ilona Andrews (shelved as witch 3 times)
And I've almost finished my free space book.
Hope you're both enjoying your current reads!

Shelf #3 ~ 22 Oct: Haunted House
DIRECT LINK(s) ~ haunted, sentient or otherwise magical house; house on cover

Or do you all have any good haunted house recs? I suppose I could always do a Harry Potter re-read -- Hogwarts would count I think?

The Guest List works :)"
I have the whole book -- I must have just linked wrong. ;)
I think I'll go with The Guest List -- it fits the vibe of the season better. :)

No problem, Leslie! I happened to think of it when I was trying to plan my reading for the week. Hope you feel better soon!

This was a fun and easy read .The witty humor was so fun. The banter of the characters and the buildup of the story was done quite well. I like the communication to a relative that has passed, and I look forward to seeing how that develops in the future. I will continue the series .

Review: I have recently "discovered" Book-Tok, and I'm currently trying to wade through some of the suggestions -- I figure I'll like about half of them... ;) Fortunately this was one of the good ones. It had an interesting world, likeable MC, suitably grumpy and mysterious love interest and no end of bad guys. I got a little bogged down occasionally by the world building as everyone had to be introduced, but I feel like I'm going to love the next book in the series.

Book: Ruby Fever by Ilona Andrews
Date Read: 17/10/22
Rating: ★★★★★

Review:
I don’t think I’ve ever met an Ilona Andrews book I haven’t liked and Ruby Fever was a five star read for me. I feel engaged from the first page right until the last and I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next. I love how flawed all the characters are and how all the characters feel like they all have their own lives. I have the feeling that the authors know their characters so well even the two line bit parts probably have entire backstories made for them. It’s a full world they’ve created.
I thought Ruby Fever was a great conclusion to the Catalina trilogy within the Hidden Legacy universe. It’s got a lot of action as we watched Catalina and her family face an army of supernatural beings and everything which has been brewing for the past three books finally coming to a climax. I love the relationships in this book. Not just the romantic one between Carolina and Alessandro but the ones between family members. And some new connections we finally got to witness in this book! There are plenty of surprises and reveals as well as some new characters. There’s a Russian prince who managed to add some comic relief as well as a slightly menacing undertone whenever he appeared on the page. I don’t want to stop visiting this world and I hope there will be many books to come exploring the rest of House Baylor and their future adventures.

And I’ve almost finished my free space. Sorry for being a little behind. I caught the dreaded virus and instead of a week off from work meaning more reading time I spend the entire week sleeping. Now I’m trying to catch up on everything I let slide. But I’m almost caught up and I’m feeling better :)

Shelf #3: Haunted House
Book:

Completed: 10/27/22

Review: While I got the main mystery before it happened, a lot of the rest of the other secrets I didn't even see coming -- so that qualifies as a good thriller for me. I was actually excited to like some of the characters which is something that's been missing lately in my thriller reads. I also thought the ending was quite appropriate. :)

Revised Free Space pick:

Review:
Blake Pierce is one of my favorite authors. This book does not disappoint. I really enjoyed that the serial killers I had previously read about were mentioned in this book. I really like the fact the detectives made several mistakes on the case. I will be reading
