Irene (irene5) | 904 comments Lailah, I think all the examples you mentioned would cout. It's supposed to include any obvious route of travel (like a road or bridge) but I think someone mentioned in the discussion that if it's the sky or ocean there should be a plane or boat to make it more obvious that it's a route of travel. It definitely doesn't have to be literal route on a map that exists in real life like Route 66, that would be a BIO option I think.

°~Amy~° (amybooksit) Sorry I am running late posting the final group of prompts, My grandfather went into hospice and it's been, stressful. I will get the latest KIS/BIO suggestions added soon but in the meantime:

46. A book with an unusual or surprising title
Baseline: “this prompt is about the words and meaning of the title, not the visuals of the cover”

47. A book by an author you read in 2022
Baseline: “For those of us who love series, this could be the next book in the series. For those who read stand alone books, this could be a chance to read something from the author's backlist”

48. A book by an Asian diaspora author
Baseline: “In honor of fighting Asian hate (heightened due to the pandemic), read a book by an author who is a member of the Asian diaspora (diaspora refers to “the dispersion of any people from their original homeland,” either voluntarily or involuntarily).”

49. A book where the cover design includes text that is not completely horizontal
Baseline: “Anything that is not entirely horizontal, where the cover designer had to purposefully change the text so it was not “straight-out-of the-box” typed text would count. Some is subtle, some is VERY obvious.”

50. A book with the theme of returning home
Baseline: “for example, people who return to their hometowns, prodigal sons/daughters, immigrants or refugees who return to their home country, people who return to the country of their ancestors, soldiers returning after war, etc. I think there should be a lot of options for fiction - literary, crime, mystery, romance, other genres - as well as nonfiction, memoirs, etc.”

Nina (ninakins) | 334 comments BIO: 3 books each set in 3 different centuries (i.e., time travel or epic)

Amy (Other Amy) | 690 comments 49. A book where the cover design includes text that is not completely horizontal
BIO: A book with NO horizontal text on the cover.

I don't really have any suggestions for the others.

That's a good one Amy. I am struggling to come up with any options for this batch as well. I have to rearrange the whole list to match the order that the mods put the 2023 list in, maybe some ideas will pop into my head as I do that.

Sheena Davis (sheenad) | 561 comments 46. A book with an unusual or surprising title

KIS: title includes the word "unusual" or "surprising" or a synonym; uncommon, odd, curious, unexpected, astonishing, extraordinary, bizarre, unlikely.

Thanks Emily. I was sick last week and forgot to check back.
I posted all the links for Tropical in the comment section of the listopia. That should save you some time when creating the weekly thread. I didn't look for a list of climate books that specifically fits the definition, but I'll post them when I find them.

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 3532 comments 44. A book with a cover or title that includes a route of travel
Baseline: No explanation given

The OP answered questions on the suggestions thread and the voting thread. All of her examples were of roads, paths, lanes, etc on land. Air, water, and magical portals were other people's ideas. Vehicles were not mentioned.

BIO: A book with a cover or title that includes a route of travel on land, such as a road, path, lane, street, highway, freeway, or trail.
KIS? The route of travel is magical, such as a portal, or sci-fi, such as a worm hole.

°~Amy~° (amybooksit) The KIS/BIO list has been reorganized. It should match the order of the 2023 list, with the 'whole list' options at the bottom. Please let me know if anything is out of order. If anyone has any ideas to add to the list, please post and I will get them added!

Amy (Other Amy) | 690 comments That list is beautiful, Amy! Thank you for taking the lead on this this year.

Sheena Davis (sheenad) | 561 comments 2. A book by an author you read in 2022

BIO read a book by the same author written under a pen name/pseudonym (i.e. Stephen King/Richard Bachman, J.K. Rowling/Robert Galbraith)

Nancy is right, my bad! Several people mentioned vehicles in the results thread but none were the OP so I guess the baseline is routes on land!

message 163: by °~Amy~° (new)

°~Amy~° (amybooksit) Thank you NancyJ. I must have missed that! I will add the baseline when I get back to my laptop.

I will also update all the new suggestions that have come in recently too!

I'm so impressed with all the work you have done for this, especially with what is going on in your life. Thank you for taking this on and organizing it so well!
