SOLVED. Novel written as a fictional computer game guide/ walkthrough. [s]

This novel was written like a blog posts about a fictional computer game. In each chapter the first person narrator tells you some hints about a computer game to give you a "walkthrough" of this completely fictional game. However, increasingly, the "blog posts" turn to the personal life of the narrator: his problems with his girlfriend, the depression of his best friend and his job.

I don't remember the name of the game in the novel either. It was of epic proportions including several worlds and thousands of paths to go.

I do remember that the narrator worked at a pizza restaurant but refused to call their products "pizza" and instead referred to them as "heated circular food discs" or something like that.

I must have read this around 2010 to 2015 and I believe the book was fairly new then.

It is possible that I read the German translation of the book, but it was definitely by an English-language male author.

I thought it was a really great and creative book and I would love to learn the name of that book again!
