Sci-Fi? Girl with superpowers teams up with an ex-special agent to save the world?

I read this book several years ago (2018 maybe?) and I can't remember the name of it!!
It starts out with a girl who is afraid of her abusive, alcoholic boyfriend/husband. He comes home in a fit and she uses her telepathic powers to escape from him. I think she levitates a car? While she is escaping, she is grabbed by a government agency because of her superpowers and taken to an interrogation room. An ex-special agent is brought out of retirement to interrogate her, but when he sees what's going on he refuses and instead helps her escape. They team up together to save the world or stop a bad guy or something? And then they go their separate ways at the end, but there is this sort of unanswered question that left me thinking there would be a second book in the series, but the lack of remembering the title or author has made it impossible to find out if there were anymore made in the series!!
