Hello everyone. I've just published my crime thriller, The Breaks, and am trying to garner some reviews. It has a female PI protagonist and contains some dark themes. For me personally, while obstensibly it's a crime mystery on the surface, the real story is the relationship between the two main characters (the female PI and a male veteran of the conflict in Afghanistan). Themes I keep returning to are gender as societal construction and the crisis in masculinity.
I teach fiction writing as a university lecturer and I completed my masters thesis on the notion that the conventions of the loner PI could be upheld successfully even with a gender subversion, as the common view among academics seemed to be that either feminism or the formula was at risk.
If anyone thinks this type of thriller might be their cup of tea, it's all subjective I know, and would be kind enough to offer a review, I would be incredibly grateful for some feedback.
