RachelG. I finished a 10 hour audio book today while at work and started a new one on the way home that hopefully I can finish tomorrow. My son wants to hang out at the library this afternoon so hopefully I can just sit and read something while he is looking. He has special needs so I will have to see how much help he requires from me.

Jill | 725 comments I finished Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating and put in Cornucopia #1, a book with an animal. I also finished Desperation in Death and put it in Cornucopia #5, a mystery or thriller. I am going to finish Upgrade tonight which can go in Cornucopia #2, a dystopian novel.

message 53: by Roxana (new)

Roxana (luminate) | 775 comments Rachel- hope you both enjoyed some nice library time today!

Jill- Nice! 👏 especially Upgrade, I think dystopian is definitely a harder prompt (at least for me, lol)

message 54: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Kristick | 874 comments Only 32 pages today. Started The Sentence but couldn't get into it.

message 55: by Roxana (new)

Roxana (luminate) | 775 comments Just finished 4:50 from Paddington, it doesn't fit much we clearly need but it'll be worth some acorns, at least! I've put it on dead author for now, but feel free to move it around.

message 56: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 238 comments I just finished Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger . I put it under magical realism, but it could also fit Young Adult (or ghost) if someone wants to move it there.

message 57: by Caitie (new)

Caitie | 144 comments I was very jetlagged yesterday and didn’t get to read much of One to Watch, as much as I was enjoying it. Don’t recommend flying west around the world as a long term strategy 😹

message 58: by Rose (new)

Rose | 52 comments Currently reading The Last Graduate and His Majesty’s Dragon, neither of which will fit many prompts, but will get us closer to some acorns at least! Also reading some comics and short stories I can’t use for prompts, but yay acorns! 😂

message 59: by Irene (new)

Irene (irene5) | 917 comments Hi team! I'm in the process of moving across the country so Monday and Tuesday were crazy hectic and I wasn't able to get any reading done :( BUT I should be on track to finish at least one short book by the end of today, and I plan on finishing at least 2-3 more by Sunday!

message 60: by Jill (new)

Jill | 725 comments I finished Upgrade and added it to Cornucopia #2, a dystopian book.

Kathryn | 259 comments Laurel wrote: "Only 32 pages today. Started The Sentence but couldn't get into it."

That’s too bad—I keep seeing people talking about that book in this group so I wanted to try it! I started another of her books,The Round House a few years ago and also had trouble getting into it.

message 62: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 259 comments I slowed down after the weekend but am still listening to The Road, another dystopian book and reading both The Haunting of Maddy Clare and All Systems Red.

Maddy Clare might go slowly because I can’t read horror novels too late at night (which is unfortunately the only time I have to read), otherwise I won’t sleep!

Kathryn | 259 comments Jill wrote: "I finished Upgrade and added it to Cornucopia #2, a dystopian book."

Did you like that one? I read Dark Matter a few years ago and loved it.

I am not a big sci-fi reader but I loved Dark Matter and Recursion. This is good but I still think Dark Matter is better.

message 65: by Roxana (new)

Roxana (luminate) | 775 comments I have delayed my Libby hold on The Sentence...so many times lol. I'm just never ready for it! 😂

I've heard such good things about Blake Crouch's books but haven't read any yet, I really ought to get around to them...

Hoping to finish The Perfect Stranger tonight, and possibly Mrs. McGinty's Dead, too. Neither of them does a lot of prompts, but yay for acorn pages! ;)

message 66: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Kristick | 874 comments Decided to put The Sentence aside until I'm in the mood to read it. Read No Game For a Dame today - a decent mystery with a smart-talking female PI set in 1930s Dayton.

message 67: by Caitie (new)

Caitie | 144 comments I finished One to Watch last night and loved it!

Was planning on starting One Last Stop next but at a first glance, it only fulfills one of the prompts (400+ pages). Has anyone read it who could advise on whether it fulfills other prompts? Otherwise I can find another to read.

Rose | 52 comments Caitie wrote: "I finished One to Watch last night and loved it!

It doesn't really fit anything else. Maaaybe family dynamics, and maybe food if you would count a cup of coffee.

message 69: by Rose (new)

Rose | 52 comments Just finished Ironheart Volume 1, which will get us pages, but no prompts. Hoping to finish The Last Graduate today as well.

Caitie | 144 comments Rose wrote: "Caitie wrote: "I finished One to Watch last night and loved it!

Haha Ok I will look at my other options ;)

message 71: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Kristick | 874 comments We are only 3 pages from another acorn!

message 72: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 259 comments I finished The Haunting of Maddy Clare and added it into one of the ghost slots. I can move it to the title with a person’s name if necessary.

message 73: by Caitie (new)

Caitie | 144 comments Hi all! I ended up starting The Night the Lights Went Out: A Memoir of Life After Brain Damage yesterday. It's quite short, so hoping to finish it in short order!

message 74: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. This morning I have been having trouble concentrating on the book I wanted to work on and so I have been listening to Hell to Pay and I should finish it by the end of the day. I really want to get a good start on Small Favor but I need to concentrate on the story because I am doing it as a buddy read and that is hard to do when people keep interrupting.

message 75: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Kristick | 874 comments Would you call this cover mostly orange?
Miss Aldridge Regrets by Louise Hare

The orange is prominent, but is looks to me like it is only about half of the cover.

message 76: by Irene (new)

Irene (irene5) | 917 comments Laurel that's a tough one!! I agree that it's only about half, but it's the important half, LOL. Does it fit any other prompts?

I was thinking of reading Catching Fire for the mostly orange prompt if I have time this weekend.

message 77: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Kristick | 874 comments It would also work for thriller/mystery or 1900s.

message 78: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 238 comments I've got this one for mostly orange and should finish it tomorrow. The Mountains Sing by Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai

message 79: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (ronireads13) | 816 comments Hi everyone sorry this week has been way more hectic than I anticipated. I've been reading Sharp Objects on kindle and Midnight Sun as an audio, which i had 15 hours left when the week started.. i should be able to finish both by Sunday night.

message 80: by Jill (new)

Jill | 725 comments Katherine wrote: "I've got this one for mostly orange and should finish it tomorrow. The Mountains Sing by Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai"

I loved this book!

It was SO good! :-)

message 82: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 259 comments I finished The Road and put it in for dystopian novel.

I will try to finish another book by tomorrow but am not sure if I’ll be able to. Do you all think I should be counting reading time with my son (picture books) towards my pages? I haven’t counted those even though I have read tons of kid’s books this week.

message 83: by Irene (new)

Irene (irene5) | 917 comments @Kathryn, I know the mods said books under the page requirement can count towards our pages read (just not for prompts) so it sounds like it would be fine! I know the individual challenge says picture books aren't allowed but that's for the raffle so I figure it doesn't matter in our team challenge.

But also, what a huge contrast between the books you've been reading with your son and The Road!!

message 84: by Roxana (new)

Roxana (luminate) | 775 comments ^ I second what Irene said, both about picture books counting for pages though not for prompts…and about how different they are from The Road! 😂

Been super busy for two days but I’m back, and finished a couple of books in the meantime! We’re enough in need of acorns that it probably won’t matter much what prompts I put them on, but still, I’ll put Odder (very cute but surprisingly emotional for an adorable little kids book about otters) on nature, and The Murder on the Links on sports. And go add to our acorn pages!

message 85: by Rose (new)

Rose | 52 comments Busy, busy few days, but hopefully finishing a couple books soon!

I’ve been counting picture books (I also read a lot with my son!) and comics as pages, but not for prompts.

message 86: by Caitie (new)

Caitie | 144 comments Finished The Night the Lights Went Out and put it in Cornucopia 1 for a book that was published in fall. It could fit a few other prompts so feel free to move it around.

I’m probably just going to work on pages today!

message 87: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. I finished Murder in Black Tie this morning which was a good cozy mystery. I have a few books on audio I can listen to today and a print book.

message 88: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 238 comments It's actually going to rain today (shocking here in CA) so I'll finish Parable of the Sower and maybe the young adult book I started yesterday. In any event, I think we just need acorns/pages to finish up some of the cornucopias we already have.

message 89: by Irene (new)

Irene (irene5) | 917 comments I can't believe it's the last day of the read-a-thon already! I've had such a busy week that the days just flew by.

I'm on track to finish the book I'm currently reading, and I expect to finish at least one other book as well!

Do you guys think I could use a Little House on the Prairie book for the young adult prompt? I'm almost done rereading The Long Winter (which I've always considered middle grade), but it has Young Adult listed as one of its genres on its GR page.

message 90: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. I would count Long Winter as YA.

I downloaded a couple manga that I plan to read for pages because I need a break from mysteries.

message 91: by Irene (new)

Irene (irene5) | 917 comments Ooh, manga is a smart way to get pages in!!

message 92: by Roxana (new)

Roxana (luminate) | 775 comments A few last minute books added before bedtime, not sure they'll end up mattering, but we've got one extra acorn at the moment, anyway!

message 93: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. Thanks for being a great group! I had fun!

message 94: by Irene (new)

Irene (irene5) | 917 comments I also had a lot of fun, thanks everyone!!

message 95: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Kristick | 874 comments This was fun! Thanks, fellow team members!

message 96: by Roxana (new)

Roxana (luminate) | 775 comments Another fun readathon! ☺️ Thanks everyone for being such a great team, and the mods for putting it together!

message 97: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 238 comments Thanks everyone! Go Carrots!

message 98: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 259 comments Good work everyone! That was fun!
