John Bennett | 5 comments I am only 15, so I must have read this book in the past 5 years, most likely in the last 3, so it is a new book not an old one. What I can remember is that the main character (a girl) lives in a village (that has technology similar to avatar the last air bender), and she has an older sibling I believe. She has a pet fox, and her goal is to journey where nobody else has made the climb, to what I believe was the tallest mountain in the world (which was near their village). Also it is a winter scenery. Her father doesn't let her make the journey because her mother died on the same trek, even though the main character has very good map skills (better than her own sister). Finally I believe she convinces her father at a village banquet or large dinner, in front of this rich man who came from (Europe?) . The rich man had the goal of completing the journey with his assistant (who I think had some secret powers of some sort). The main character and her friend (also her crush i think), make the journey with this rich guy and I believe he betrays them. Also at one point I remember some dark spirits or something up in the mountains during a blizzard. Thanks!
