Mollie | 4 comments I read a book approx. 10 years ago online. The book starts by describing the creatures, who had dark blue/black, lived in the treetops of a jungle. I think the main characters were a girl and her father going to a meeting/ceremony on the main platform of the community. There were also dragons, which I think hatched on the ground of the jungle, all different colours, spoke telepathically to each other. One was maybe the runt of the clutch? Which I believe struck a friendship with the girl.

Amy (Other Amy) | 198 comments Were these dragons big or small? It sounds somewhat like the dragons and fire lizards in Dragonsdawn by Anne McCaffrey, but it's been years since I read it and I'm not sure the details of the setting match.

Ky | 449 comments There aren't any black dragons or fire lizards in the Dragonriders of Pern books. There are blue dragons but not such a dark blue that they could be mistaken for black. Also Pernese dragons prefer stone caves for their eggs, Pernese fire lizards prefer beaches or caves for theirs.

Dragon Eggs: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

@Ky - you sound like exactly the sort of reader who could help pad this list. ;) Please add any titles you know, to this list and any others. ;)

Marc *Dark Reader with a Thousand Young! Iä!* (marcthedarc) | 79 comments Some details (but not all) could be from The Dragon Keeper. Was not an online book though. If it was only web fiction it's beyond the scope of this group, IIRC.

Olutosin | 6 comments Never read anything like that

Ky | 449 comments @Capn, it looks like a pretty good list already. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any other titles to add to it, but I will give it some thought.

Capn | 3506 comments Mollie - can you remember where you read it? Or a few likely places? If it wasn't a mainstream publisher, it will be difficult to find on WorldCat, for example.

Any names that you can remember? Dragons, human characters, place names?

We also need to know if it was middle grade / YA / or for Adult audiences, please.

I have a guess (from a previous thread, here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... ):
The Dragon Whisperer: Imagine you could talk to dragons...
"A tale hatched from Hare’s real-life experiences and devotion to all kinds of animals, The Dragon Whisperer follows Earl’s daughter (and dragon whisperer), eleven year old Quenelda. Her best friend is a battle-dragon with the comically cautionary name of Two Gulps and You’re Gone, who she can command through thought alone. Hare offers a headstrong heroine in Quenelda that chooses dragons over dresses, battles over boys and ultimately dreams of joining her father’s side as a warrior in the Stealth Dragon Services."

If this is for too young an audience, let us know

Sarah Holland | 134 comments This doesn't meet all your recollections, but parts do - Martha Wells Raksura books, starting with The Cloud Roads.

There's different coloured dragons that live in a jungle, with huge wooden platforms. First book was published in 2011.

Very enjoyable series even if it isn't your book.

Mollie | 4 comments also thanks to everyone for your input, I know my recollection wasn't the clearest and some points incorrect (I know remember as I've glanced over the actual book)

This is always the best way to solve a thread, and the most satisfying. Nice win, Marc. ;) Glad to have you here to help!
