MountainKat | 31763 comments Here is your next task!

Task 18 - 70. Read a minimum of 1200 pages in books of the same sub-genre, but by different authors.

As a team select a sub-genre and then read books by different authors totaling at least 1200 pages in that sub-genre. Please include the selected sub-genre in your completion posts. Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count.

Chan | 5093 comments This is what we have:

70. Read a minimum of 1200 pages in books of the same sub-genre, but by different authors.
Historical

message 403: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5093 comments There are two that I'm debating between and both are a little over 300 pages.

message 404: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11371 comments What are your authors, Chan? We need to not overlap there.

I have a Shana Galen and a Jennifer Ashley on my M&G, but I was planning on both of those for next month. They're also both just barely over 300 pages, and I'd rather find something a little longer, so I'll probably just go looking for a reread.

message 405: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Nolly (booknerdchats) | 768 comments I’ve got either Sally Thorne or Jennifer Ashley.

message 406: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5093 comments That's why it is so important to read the WHOLE task. Thanks, Karen.

I went with Georgette Heyer

message 407: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11371 comments I'm leaning toward Flowers from the Storm by Laura Kinsale by Laura Kinsale. It's an old one, but I remember really liking it, and the bonus is it's 565 pages. 😁

LOL...yes, it sometimes makes a difference! And I guess mine doesn't really qualify as old (1992) when up against Heyer!

message 409: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5093 comments i think they are both in the 20th century lol although Kinsale is on the tale end.

message 410: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Nolly (booknerdchats) | 768 comments I’m going with Angelika Frankenstein Makes Her Match by Sally Thorne 389 pages

Task 19 - 77. Each teammate reads a book that the teammate after them alphabetically has rated 5 stars. No pass for this task.

There is no date limitation for this task, just select a book the teammate after you alphabetically has read and rated 5 stars. Please include a link to the teammate's review in your completion post.

Chan → Courtney → Elizabeth → Karen → Chan

message 421: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11371 comments I have lots of good choices from Chan's shelf, both new and rereads, but I'm going to wait until the new PtP theme is announced to pick something so hopefully I can find something that fits that one too.

Chan | 5093 comments ugh...i have the new page

message 430: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11371 comments Liz, will you please check your link again? I'm still getting my read shelf rather than the specific book review page. GR has been having issues lately, so maybe it decided not to accept your edit. It will do that sometimes if you've been on the page for a while without refreshing it (and sometimes "a while" doesn't have to be long at all depending on if they're messing with stuff), so If you could try to add the correct link again, but refresh the page immediately before doing the edit, hopefully it will take this time. Thanks!

~KarenH~ | 11371 comments Chan wrote: "ugh...i have the new page"

Thanks for the warning! I'm still back on the old page, but I'll be prepared to see it disappear and the new one reappear anytime. I almost hate to admit this, but being back on the old page after having the new one for a month or two, I am actually finding a couple of things that I like better on the new one. Still prefer the functionality of the old, but the new one isn't ALL bad! 😁

Courtney | 2934 comments OK, I'm really glad I read that as part of the challenge. The first few emails, I felt so much second-hand embarrassment for the heroine that I probably would have DNF'd it if I hadn't had to finish the book, and it ended up being really good once I got past that. 😁

message 435: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31763 comments Here is your next task!

Task 20 - 112. Each teammate picks two books for the other teammates from their regular (not special) to-read shelf that has been there over a year and the teammate picks one of those books to read. No pass for this task.

Each of you will select two books from your other teammates ’to-read’ shelves that have been there over a year. (If no books over a year on their ‘to-read’ shelf, then select from the 20 oldest books on their shelf. But how is it possible to not have books that have lingered over a year?!) Each teammate will pick one of the books selected from their shelf and read that book. So each teammate will have to read one book from the six picked options.

message 436: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11371 comments Wow, she's really making us work for this one! 😂😂

Here are my recommendations:

Chan:
The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #2) by Molly Harper The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf
Hour of Need (Scarlet Falls, #1) by Melinda Leigh Hour of Need

Courtney:
Fighting Silence (On the Ropes, #1) by Aly Martinez Fighting Silence
Bound to Submit (Blasphemy, #1) by Laura Kaye Bound to Submit

Liz:
The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune The House in the Cerulean Sea
Sweet Little Lies (Heartbreaker Bay, #1) by Jill Shalvis Sweet Little Lies

Narrowing it down to two each was hard! I kept second guessing myself...

message 437: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Nolly (booknerdchats) | 768 comments Sorry Im a little slow… so we each pick 2 books for each other and then from the 6 selected we pick one to read?

message 438: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11371 comments Yes, that's correct.

message 439: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11371 comments And the books you select need to come from the person's main TBR shelf, and have been there for over a year.

message 440: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Nolly (booknerdchats) | 768 comments Ok I hope I picked some good books. 🤞🏼

Karen
The Rogue You Know (Covent Garden Cubs, #2) by Shana Galen
Otherwise Engaged by Amanda Quick

Courtney
The Importance of Being Wicked (The Wild Quartet, #1) by Miranda Neville
Marked (Eternal Guardians, #1) by Elisabeth Naughton

Chan
Indulge by Georgia Cates
Temporary Bliss (Bliss, #1) by B.J. Harvey

message 441: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2934 comments Ok, hope I'm doing this right:

Karen:
Reaper's Property (Reapers MC, #1) by Joanna Wylde
Hidden Prey (Deadly Intent, #1) by Cheyenne McCray
The first one was easy because it's one of my fav MC romances. The second I just went for a high rated suspense because I know you like those, so hopefully it's good!

Liz:
Miss Lattimore's Letter by Suzanne Allain
Hitched to the Gunslinger by Michelle McLean
I couldn't find any I'd read before, but the first one sounds cute, and the second one has been on my TBR for a while too 😁

Chan:
Mister McHottie (Girl Band #1) by Pippa Grant
Her Halloween Treat (Men at Work, #1) by Tiffany Reisz
I picked two I really like, so hope you will too! The second seemed appropriate for the season 😂

Chan | 5093 comments sorry for being so late to the party. I have family visiting from VA. It was nice to not have to travel to VA, but it still requires your time...cleaning, hosting, etc.

Looking through your shelves in a moment. I'll try to use your MnG shelves if you participate in that Challenge.

Chan | 5093 comments Here we go...

Courtney, I picked one that I really enjoyed and I picked one that was shorter and seemed to be in line with what you enjoy

Look the Part by Jewel E. Ann The Fairest (Fairy Tale Retellings, #1) by Sam Burns

Liz, these are from your MnG shelf. I double checked to make sure they were also on your TBR.

Not Your Average Hot Guy by Gwenda Bond Kingdom of the Cursed (Kingdom of the Wicked, #2) by Kerri Maniscalco

Karen, I think I picked from your MnG shelf, but not sure.

Earls Just Want to Have Fun (Covent Garden Cubs, #1) by Shana Galen Fireworks (True North, #6) by Sarina Bowen

Chan | 5093 comments I'm reading
The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #2) by Molly Harper

message 445: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11371 comments Chan, I hate to do this to you...wish I'd seen your first comment sooner. These have to be picked from the main TBR list, and have to have been on the shelves for over a year. Sorry! 🙁

message 446: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11371 comments Actually, it looks like the Marie Force book of mine is the only one that doesn't qualify...

message 447: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5093 comments Are you sure? i checked again and it shows in your tbr too. I must be doing something wrong

message 448: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5093 comments welp...just in case, i picked the first book on your tbr

Reaper's Property (Reapers MC, #1) by Joanna Wylde

message 449: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11371 comments Chan wrote: "Are you sure? i checked again and it shows in your tbr too. I must be doing something wrong"

It has to have been on there over a year...

And it kind of stinks because I've been trying to fit that one into a challenge all month and it hasn't worked yet!

message 450: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5093 comments Liz, you may need to check yours too. As I mentioned in my picks to you, I double checked to make sure they were also on your tbr, but I must be doing something wrong b/c one of Karen's wasn't in her tbr on her end.
