Here is your next task!Task 8 - 34. Read 6 books first published between 2000 and 2010.
Books selected for this task need to have been initially published between 1.1.2000 and 12.31.2010. If there is a date listed at the top of the editions page, use that one. Otherwise I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualification. Please include the initial publication date in your completion posts.
I'm going to read
. I've been meaning to get to it forever. Finally a good excuse to move it from my TBR 🤣
Courtney wrote: "I'm going to read
. I've been meaning to get to it forever. Finally a good excuse to move it from my TBR 🤣"I loved that series, but the first one was one of the weakest for me. It's been a LONG time since I read it though, and that may have been at least partially (if not entirely) due to the fact that back then I hadn't read much that was nearly as, well, smutty 😁 as this is! It was a bit of a shock back then...my how times have changed! 🤣🤣🤣
I can do two again this time, although I'm going to have to do some hunting...nothing on my short lists fit. It'll be easy to find something though - even if I just go back and choose a couple of favorite rereads from that time!
Question is the publication date of the first Kindle edition what counts or the first publication of the mass paperback?
hey. Edition doesn't matter for this task qualification. It could be ebook, mass, kindle, paperback, etc. Whatever is the earliest published date. It's best to use the date at the top of the editions page.
Elizabeth wrote: "Question is the publication date of the first Kindle edition what counts or the first publication of the mass paperback?"Ideally it's the "First published" date at the top of the editions page. In the rare instance that there is no date there, it is the first published English language edition, regardless of format.
Hey Chan, I've been meaning to ask for a while but keep forgetting. A while back (one or two challenges ago, I think) you posted a link to the KU books that include the audio free. I thought I'd bookmarked it, but now I can't find it so apparently I just thought about it. Did you happen to save it?
Darn that is what I was afraid of… I was reading Minx because all the dates fit, but then I went all the way down and there was a random 1996 paperback so now I’m rereading An Offer From a Gentleman since I know I can get through one quickly.

I’m so disappointed. I remember really liking this book the first time I read it, but I was a little disappointed this time around. I’m blaming Netflix. 😆

Chan, I pulled the pub date from Amazon and added it, so you can remove your note if you want.Hope you're staying safe and at least mostly dry down there!

It was a bit of a shock back then...my how times have changed! 🤣🤣🤣It’s definitely heavy on the smut 🤣. I've got about 40 pages left, so will finish tonight. I like the writing fine, but isn't going to be a super great read for me. I only really like menage/reverse harems when it's clear that everyone wants the relationship that way. It's pretty clear that Colby doesn't want to share, so it feels a bit uncomfortable. Also really don't like how he forces Edgard to join in that one scene after we find out his "secret" later 😒.
I would read more in the series, though.

Ok hope that posted ok. I can't get GR to load on my computer for some reason, and posting completions on mobile sometimes go wonky, so hopefully I've got it right

Likely a typo, but please correct to the first edition Kindle page count (497). Thanks.

Definitely the weakest of the series, some of the books are very good! Smutty, but very good. 😂
Here is your next task!Task 9 - 63. Read a minimum of 1200 pages in books tagged 'magic' or 'magical'.
Books selected for this task need to be tagged 'magic' or 'magical'. Qualification can come from tags/shelves only. Variations of the words and combo tags will be allowed in context. Please include a link to the top shelves page with your qualifying tag along with how many tags and the top shelves page number in your completion posts. MountainKat wrote: "Likely a typo, but please correct to the first edition Kindle page count (497). Thanks."Nope, not a typo...my eyes! I somehow managed to have my browser zoomed out just a bit, and that 9 really looked like a 0! It's fixed now...
Hey! I'm starting to get a bit tired. I've been traveling and was trying to keep up. I just got back from Hilton Head on Monday and fly out to San Fran on Sunday. I wish it was closer to Kat and Karen because I would definitely make plans to see you both.
I'll be reading, but will probably fall a little behind from travel weariness. Jet lag for me is real. I feel so fatigued no matter where I travel.
No worries, Chan! Just do what works with your RL schedule and don't let the challenge stress you out or make things harder...you know that's not why we're here! How long are you going to be in SF?
I'm going to have plenty of extra pages for this task if anyone wants to read something short.
is 372 pages, but it's a M&G book for the next round so I can't start it until tomorrow morning. So since I've been using the Beachwood Harbor Ghost series as fillers because they're short, I'm listening to
today. Between the two they're just shy of 600 pages.
~KarenH~ wrote: "No worries, Chan! Just do what works with your RL schedule and don't let the challenge stress you out or make things harder...you know that's not why we're here! How long are you going to be in SF?"
I'll be there through the following Sunday. I'm there for work, but I have family in Cali, so i'm extending my stay to spend time with them.
I thought I would complete my book tomorrow or Sunday, but it started getting real good. I sped it up so i could finish before dozing off this evening. This is book 3 of Elder' Races. I liked book 1 although it felt immature/YA. Book 2 was okay, but for some reason, I'm liking book 3 quite a bit.
Ohh another reason why i feel i just need a break. My day was already super hectic today, but then a delivery truck smashes into a pillar in the parking garage connected to my work. A structural engineer shut down the parking deck. no one can come in and no one can leave. All of our cars had to be left there. They think we should be able to pick up our cars tomorrow, but nobody works in my building on the weekends and I leave on Sunday...ugh...I didn't complain out loud 😁 I had to remind myself that it could have been worse and people could have been hurt.
What a pain! Good to know that nobody was hurt, but definitely annoying for everyone, and even more for you since you're leaving! Can you have someone go pick your car up for you sometime next week, or is the garage secured so only you can do it?
It's a secured lot. you have to have an employee ID and parking pass. I might have to leave it there until I return. They said it SHOULD be okay, but that wasn't reassuring for me. I'm going to hope that I can pick it up tomorrow. If I can't, then I'll tackle the next step then 😂 I'm not allowing myself to be more stressed out today

Posted in the tracking thread.Wow that book packed a punch! I was wavering between 4 and 5 stars, but the world building is just so amazing for a book so short that I had to bump it up.
I looked ahead to see what the next book would be and it's over 500 pages 😳. The reviews say that one moves really slowly, but this one was like bam bam bam, so much happening. Now I'm torn if I should keep going with the series or leave it with good feelings 🤣
Here is your next task!Task 10 - 38. Read a minimum of 1000 pages in books with a non-English language edition.
Books selected for this task need to also be published in a language besides English. Please include a link to the non-English language edition in your completion posts. Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count.
I have a ton that work for this task on my M&G and plenty of time to listen over the next 2 days, so I just picked my longest one.
is 640 pages, so that leaves 360 pages needed. As long as everyone hits the minimum page count, we're good! 😁

Whoa...500pages. I wonder if you would get bored with it even if it's a really good book.
500 pages is right up my alley, but i know you like the shorter books.
me too, Karen.I have a lot to choose from. Which can sometimes cause a problem b/c i don't know what to pick.
Chan wrote: "me too, Karen.I have a lot to choose from. Which can sometimes cause a problem b/c i don't know what to pick."
It was easy for me this time. I figured the more pages I read the more flexibility it gives everyone else, and since (barring something totally unforeseen happening) I know I've got the time to get through a long one, that was the way to go!
