How it qualifies: MPG MM Romance
Read: October 20th

Great suspenseful story!
I have two niggles, one just too unrealistic (view spoiler) and one not really elaborated (view spoiler) These two points aside I greatly enjoyed reading/listening to this book!

Yes, I heard it on the news this afternoon. Is it true that Boris Johnson is now thinking about a comeback? What is the public opinion about all this back and forth?

Maybe there will be early elections in the end if the politicians continue with this chaos and everyone is displeased?

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 4055 comments Janeylou wrote: "Im sure you have all heard that our new prime minister ( who took over from Boris ) has resigned ..its a bloody joke over here at moment"

I was reading up on it yesterday. Her economic plan was bananas but it’s what a lot of people here want as well. That’s the main reason she’s resigning right?

message 266: by Janeylou (new)

Janeylou | 2988 comments Shes just been a nightmare from day she started ..they had a mini budget with new chancelor of the exchequer ( where he lowered taxes for extra rich , amongst other things ) then she fired him and a new one came in and swapped everything around.

Then several top ministers have resigned, and everyone been calling for her to go .

..and the icing on the cake is that Boris wants to come back !!!!!

MountainKat | 31754 comments Here is your next task!

Task 11 - 72. Read 4 books published in the decade of a teammate's birth, team decides which teammate.

As a team, select a teammate and then read 4 books initially published in the decade of their birth. For this task, the decade will be 0-9, for example 1990-1999. Use the initial publication date, if there is a date listed at the top of the editions page use that. Otherwise, I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualification. Please include the selected teammate and decade in your completion posts.

I was looking at reading Scribbleboy but it isn't a "romance" book.
do I need to keep looking?

I'm amazed by how fantastic this story was. Another example of how a narrator can change a story.

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 4055 comments Completion Post-Task 11 - 72. Read 4 books published in the decade of a teammate's birth, team decides which teammate.
Team chose 1990s (my birth decade)

Book 1
Practical Magic (Practical Magic, #1) by Alice Hoffman
Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman
308 Pages
How it qualifies: First published July 1st 1995
Date Read: 10/23/2022
Rating: 4 Stars
Review: Practical Magic has been one of my favorite movies since I was a child. This doesn't follow exactly, and I'm not sure how much I would've loved it had I not loved the movie so much, but because I did it was such a cozy comfortable read. I'm a sucker for a good sister story and I believe at it's heart that's what this book is

Book 2
Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk
Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk
221 Pages
How it qualifies: First published August 1996
Date Read: 10/23/2022
Rating: 3 Stars
Review: When I read this as an angsty teen I rated it 5 stars. As I've grown older my views on gender and writing have grown and evolved and this is now a 3 star read for me. Still carries some nostalgia factor, but after reading a number of reviews where men say this is just how men think/are I just cannot support the book as much.

MountainKat | 31754 comments Caipi, I am so sorry for your loss. Please take care of yourself, I know it is easy to overlook in times of grief and stress.

I have you down for using your pass for Task 11, but because of the circumstances it would be ok if you need to use it again for Task 12.

MountainKat | 31754 comments Here is your next task!

Task 12 - 31. Read 6 books rated over 4.0.

Books selected for this task need to have an average rating of 4.0 or higher on GR. If the rating for your book might drop below 4.0 during the task, i.e. it has very few ratings or it is exactly 4.0, a screenshot might be advisable and you might wish to withhold your rating if you are rating it less than 4 stars. Please include the average rating in your completion posts.
