This book is set in Alaska. Basically, a girl moves there because her mom died, and when she tries to find her friend, she finds out she has gone missing. The main character and the missing friend were friends as children. They had this hideout at a playground where they wrote books together and had this whole made up world. The main character girl moved in with her cousin, and starts to go to school. She finds her missing friends new friends and I remember one girl named Claudia being good at art. She also finds out that the missing friend joined the track team which was extremely unlike her. The main character girl met her missing friends boyfriend and it turns out they got into a fight at a party and nobody saw the missing friend after that. I remember the main character going to a pool party with everybody then throwing up or something? Not completely sure. Anyways, the missing friends boyfriend and the main character go looking for the missing friend in a cabin. I feel like this had something to do with a church camp though I could be completely wrong lol. They end up staying in a cabin overnight after being chased by a bear, and kiss. The next day at school, they hear a body had been found buried underneath the playground the main character girl and the missing girl played in as kids. Turns out, it was a different girl who went missing years ago. We then somehow find out that the missing friend could be in her uncle, the pastors, house. When the main character breaks in to that house and looks around, she finds her missing friend, who it turns out had been HIDING FROM MAIN CHARACTER GIRL!!!!!! turns out main character girl killed the girl they found underneath the playground because she tried to "invade their world" or something, and the other girl was terrified. main character girl moved out of Alaska, and the now NOT missing girl was like "I gotta train to get away from her if she comes back" so she joined the track team to become good at running. turns out, main character girl had killed her mom to go back to Alaska and find her friend. I don't remember what happened after that, but I do remember something about a mental facility thing maybe? the missing girl shaved her head and something to do with pills happened, but I can't remember.
I read this book in early 2021, and I remember the front coverbeing two girls walking in the woods. I feel like the title was written in a red font, but I am not sure. Anyways, PLEASE let me know if you find out what it is called, thank you!!!!
