Michele | 6349 comments Hi - there appear to be two records for the exact same edition of this book (William Morrow hardcover, 1929, 306 pages):

I'm guessing that, because it's old and has no ISBN, there's no automated way to prevent duplicate record creation. At any rate, I'm not sure how to fix it?

You would merge one into another since they are duplicates.

Michele | 6349 comments OK, thanks. Can you point me to instructions on how to do that?

Scott | 8803 comments Just go into the edit screen and hit delete on the one you want to remove.

They both have ratings and reviews, so I don't think just deleting one is the right solution -- I think that will mess things up for people who have shelved or reviewed it? I think there must be a way to merge them... I had already checked the Manual and didn't see a "Merge books" topic.

Scott | 8803 comments That's what merging is. The review(s) will be moved to the kept edition.

If you click on the link I provided and then on Load More, it is literally the next article: https://help.goodreads.com/s/article/... ("Combining, merging and separating editions")

Michele | 6349 comments Durrrr. Thanks. I was looking for "Merge Books." Sorry.

OK, so having read it, I'm a bit intimidated by the instructions. Also it says "This only works with books shelved less than five times" and when I check the book stats for these two books they both say they've been shelved 14 times so I'm not even sure I can do it.

So, I think I'll leave this task for a more experienced person....

Emily | 17526 comments I am merging the second one. It had one shelving.
