DivaDiane SM | 3717 comments I read this book a year ago and enjoyed it quite a bit. Looking forward to the discussion.

Kirsi | 138 comments I'm also interested in following the discussion. I read Winter's Orbit earlier this year and loved it.

Nicci (niccit) | 55 comments One of the few books in 2021 that restored my joy in reading.

Mel | 509 comments I read this last year, but I have to admit besides a general feeling that I liked it, the story has since completely escaped me. (Not necessarily a bad thing, since sometimes I just burn through a book too fast.)

My only reading activity was an enthusiastic, "Tropetacular and I'm here for it!"

I look forward to everyone's impressions, and may have to skim back through to refresh my memory. :)

Kaia | 739 comments I got a bit of a head start on this one since my copy came in early at the library. So far, I'm enjoying it, and based on the hints here and there, I'm interested to see where it goes. The last few books I have read were pretty heavy content-wise, so it's nice to read something that feels like it will be a bit lighter.

MadProfessah (madprofesssah) | 775 comments I liked it because it’s a nicely written gay romance with a sci-fi/thriller plot.

Bonnie | 1290 comments Through Chapter 3.
The young man dealing with problems & protocols, that vibe reminds me of the Miles Verkosigan books by Lois McMaster Bujold.

The extreme bureaucracy and rituals of the empire remind me of the Dread Empire's Fall books by Walter Jon Williams.

Wondering if the accidents were mere accidents or anything more to them? Looking forward to learning more about this world and how our protagonists will fare in it.

Kyle Coatney | 0 comments Based on these comments, I wonder if I am missing something. I am about 40% through and incredibly bored. The characters have been uninteresting and sometimes entire sections have seemed nothing more than filler. Still hoping something hooks me.

Kyle Coatney | 0 comments To follow up… I finished the book and the second half did a pretty good job redeeming itself. I wish the pacing had been better, but I ended up enjoying it in the end.
