I thought it was a stupid thing to do without first consulting with Cosmo or Tom Paoletti. Yes, it makes her look good in the papers, but it also darkens the Troubleshooters reputation.
This was very shallow of her and she did not think of the consequences beyond her own ends. Cosmo's fury was more than justified. At this point in the story, I did not find Jane all that likable. She came across as very selfish and self-absorbed. But this is soon revealed to be a defense mechanism.
I didn't think much of this antic, or Jane at this point. It was not fair to Cosmo especially. He was blindsided by her antics and when he read her the riot act, she deserved it.
After this, my opinion of Joan was heading downward. It was selfish and thoughtless. It’s one thing to run your own agenda with complicit partners. But to use these men without regard to their own reputations was shallow.
