To be a series on Goodreads, books need to have more than a common theme -- like characters in common, an overarching storyline, a shared universe, etc. What makes this a series?

It's already been set as a series: I just need a change in the name :)
Currently it is Canadian Love Stories and I want it change for It's Always Been You.

the characters in book one also appear in book 2 and 3 even though they're not the main characters anymore. It's a classic contemporary romance series where each book is about a charcater you previously met in the book before. So same universe because we stay in the world I created and same characters because some are recurring
